Umart Already Discounting Nvidia GTX 4080 Cards

Just noticed that Umart has a flash sale on the the new Nividia GTX 4080 cards.
https://www.umart.com.au/pc-parts/computer-parts/graphics-ca…
They've reduced the price by up to $200 for quite a few of their cards. (only 1 card at the $200 discount, but quite a few Gigabytes are $100 off).
Comparing other computer stores, Umart flash sale prices do seem to be less than other stores.
I haven't posted this as a bargain, as I don't believe that the 4080 cards are value for money, but to discount a new product after less than 2 days potentially shows that the Australian pricing for these cards was too high.

  • maybe they were expecting more hype and people snapping them up in FOMO

a 4080 should cost $1200-$1500 mark, nvidia are really trying to milk all their customers

  • It sounds like there is a lot of stock on shelves world wide. People who don't care about the cost buy a 4090.

Then there is the RX 7900 XTX coming out soon.

I just don't get who would buy a 4080 at these prices.

$2,139 from eBay Computer Alliance if you were thinking buying one. You'll need to use Zip pay though and have a sufficiently high enough credit limit to get it.

As for me — don't think I will pay more than $1k on a GPU. I don't play games enough to justify spending so much on something I don't use for work and can't claim as business expense for tax return

Down from two kidneys to one?

  • I'll probably end up getting a used 3080ti for $1k

  • Just wait, it will come down as it was over priced when released

  • They still appear to be incorrectly priced.
I am not paying fkn scalper pandemic prices.

  • Stuff Umart. Charged a 30% markup on a product through their amazon store and told me to shove it when I flagged the price difference to their site. Not that they're up front about it, going by the name "TRAMU" there.

  • second hand 3080 mining card will do the job for years.. if your invested in nvidia, probs time to sell your shares.
