Buying Quality Tissues

The usual Quilton 12 pack has been $30 on Amazon for a month or two now, it used to be $20 as standard and then even go on discount sometimes.

Odds that there will be a chance to stock up on Black Friday? Any other places to get quality tissues at reasonable prices?

    Use a handkerchief.

Better for the environment and a great conversation starter because you just don't see people using handkerchiefs these days.

      Gross.

At first I thought you didn't realise they meant toilet paper (and to be fair, the only other person I've met who called it "tissue" was my grandmother who also said she was going to "freshen up" and thought tampon commercials were an obscenity).

But a toilet handkerchief would definitely start conversations and I've definitely never seen anyone use one.

    • Always wanted a snot rag in my pocket lol

  • Odds that there will be a chance to stock up on black friday?

    Try using a sock?

    • Use a box, like that one reddit guy…

      • Don't most people use tissues and/or socks because they don't have a "box"? 😂

  • I was getting the 45 pack for around $16 S&S. But it shot up to $24 recently, but the 48 pack was still cheap at around $19 so cancelled the 45 subscribed to that.
Now both 45 and 48 packs are like $23, $24.

But I can't find the 12 pack for $30 you are talking about on Amazon AU? Even in double length?

Also found this listing for 2x 45 packs. No stock at the moment but I assume it's cheaper per roll than the single 45/48 packs.

Also one more way to reduce costs is to use less. Sometimes when you open a fresh 48 pack you think you won't be able to use it fast enough, but if you are conscious of it you can try to use less every time you wipe.

    • I'm talking about tissues not toilet paper

  • There will literally be no chance to stock up on Black Friday.

Tissues and toilet paper of all descriptions are in massively short supply at the moment. Items in short supply don't go on sale. Items go on sale when competition is high and stock is sitting somewhere in factories taking up space and needing to move.

There is no incentive to put tissues on sale when stock is scarce and margins are good. Companies don't have sales to be altruistic, they have sales to move stock that isn't moving quickly enough at regular prices.

Also, basic consumer staples aren't a Black Friday thing.

The cheapest tissues you'll find are bulk boxes (generally 36 packs) of generic brands sold to motels and the like https://www.careyou.com.au/p/bulk-lot-x-36-polar-serene-soft…

I've never had a problem with the quality, but your tolerance may vary.

    • Plus the manufacturers are saying their gas bills are tripling and will be passing on costs for tissues/toilet paper.

  • 3 seashells

  • Tissues have been a pain for a while, half the time I try buy some they are sold out.

Try Who Gives a Crap. Three-ply, bamboo tissues and slightly larger than standard size.

Not the cheapest, but half the profits go to building toilets rather than propping up Jeff Bezos ego.

You could just dry and reuse the ones you've got.

  • No one has asked for my opinion on this tissue issue.

  • The rolls seem to be bound more densely. The tissue itself feels tougher but not in a good way. Is Quilton TP manufactured differently now or just a bad batch?
