Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Selling around $1100 on FB

Hi All,
First time poster, please be gentle:)
Wish to get some guidance from this forum. I have been looking out for deals on Samsung S22 Ultra for a while now. It has never been lower than $1400.

But on FB marletplace I can see heaps of people with multiple handsets, selling 128GB and some even 256GB for as low as $1100.
These are brand new sealed phones.
Comes with 2 years manufacture warranty.

Are these safe to purchase? Can these be refurbs? Grey imports? How to be sure?

Thanks

Not worth the risk of getting scammed or a blocked phone or no warranty etc.

JB HiFi have a price blitz starting Tuesday that might bring price down and you can get another 5% off via corporate discount gateways.

    • What if they have and are willing to give you the original sale receipt?

No guarantee the receipt is legit. PDF editing is super simple.

No guarantee the receipt is for the exact same device being sold rather than copy of another.

No guarantee the receipt will be accepted for warranty by Samsung if it's not in your name.

No guarantee the receipt will be eligible for ACL coverage once manufacturers warranty is up.

No guarantee seller doesn't declare it as stolen for insurance and it gets barred few weeks later.

No guarantee there's even a phone in the (re)sealed box.

        No guarantee etc…

Is everyone on marketplaces a scammer? Definitely not. But it's not worth the risk.

Not saying all but one example is somone got the phone from contract, sell as sealed then after 2 weeks reported as stolen, provider blocks the phone imei…. Suddenly your brand new sealed phone bricked and stop working. No $1k no phone.

    Edit.
But good news the phone will work overseas. Good for bday present for overseas gf

  • Nah not worth

  • Stolen phones will get blocked. Too much risk involved.

  • Lots of scams on major brand phones on FB. Keep looking and eventually you'll find someone seemingly not connected with the other person with the exact same photos.

  • Not saying all are like this but you will find a lot of people converting stolen credit cards/identity into phones on a plan. They then cash them out on gumtree/fbm for hard to trace cash.

I'd rather pay $1400 for a phone that will definitely work, definitely have warranty, definitely not stolen, than $1100 for one which may not work, may not have warranty, may be stolen, may get blocked etc.

Samsung S22 Ultra for a while now. It has never been lower than $1400.

it was around $1280 in March at Samsung Edu, better to wait for S23 and check the prices of that, just few more months to wait

  • Thank you all. This helped.
Will wait for a better deal and once S23 is released we will see a price drop.
