Stovetop died, are these any good for the price?

  • Woah! I've seen you post a few good deals, so for some reason I thought I was going to see a <$80 cooktop…

I've seen electric cooktops for $25 (single), but I don't know about the quality or anything…
    I don't use them.

$311 seems a bit overpriced actually.

    • no time to look around just did a 30 second google search :p

not having hot food has made me not think straight…hot food need for bargain hunting

  • Any major hardware/plumbing store have their own generic brands, around $150-200. Elfa, Danika, alenzi, etc. these cheapo brands are on par with chef.

  • Always do a comparison of the model you want with other sites, including delivery costs. For example, Appliances Online sells the first model for $339, which is $28 more, but then delivery to many metro locations, installation, and removal of the old appliance is free. Good Guys charges $50 for delivery of cooktops. Of course, if you were planning to pick up, install the new one and dispose of the old one yourself, then those costs don't apply.

The cheapest way to do it is to get one of those camping gas cook tops. Not the dodgy 1 burner can gas cookers but the 3+ burner styles. Then your cooking with gas too! and its cheap and fast. Pull out the old cook top make a new top to cover the hole, then if you have room underneath put the bottle under there and run the hose up to the cooker :D

  • If I was you I would try to get appliances online to price match on this one if it the case that they also do installation. http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/600mm-chef-electric-cookt…

Let us know how they are at price matching.

    • I got get from GoodGuys cause of gift cards, knew somthing house hold would die soon so invested in a pile of the 20% of cards

      • Well I doubt if you will get 20% cheaper somewhere else so you already got your bargain.

  • If buying an electric stove get the one with a coil element. The solid ones are a pain.
You can pick up as new ones on ebay and gumtree for a song when someone has done a kitchen remodel to keep up with the Jones's.

  • grays online had some awesome ceramic cooktops for sale about in the last year or so.

    uber cheap deal around $150

    usually min price $300

obviously they would be gone now but just an example of a possible source.

  • Pity you missed these induction ones at Grays: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/34321

This looks like a nice alternative if you want induction: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Genuine-EURO-CHEF-INDUCTION-COOKE… or http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/260889136807

    • yeah, those were the one's I was looking for.

  • Euro Chef is a top quality brand I assume?
My induction cooker comes to under $50.
    EuroLAB from DealsDirect.
Use their 10% off coupon, don't forget. Also free shipping is available every now and then.
    Decent cashback too.

I saw a $25 cooktop on eSOLD (pay for shipping).

Please don't neg me just cause I know nothing about kitchenware…
I don't need the best so I just buy the cheapest that works.

I also got a 3pc cookware set from BigW. A non-stick pan, a saucepan and a stockpot. All bought together for the same price as Woolworths'
    'Why pay $10' chicken.

That's $9.88 if your memory is a bit hazy.

If you want a decent convection oven, I just bought mine for under $40.
Ask me if you want one. It's not as crap as GVA and other house brands like… Abode? Wtf. No, seriously - I don't know much but don't buy Abode even if you are on a budget.
I've never bought, but I google search and that is enough to scare me away. Whirlpool… shivers
Of course their exaggerated opinions, but still. Abode is Big W's house brand if you're wondering

    Good luck bargrin
