It is for flat arches.
It's to reinstate an arch. Which relieves problems that contribute to plantar fasciitis. It's just like an orthotic.
I'm not a podiatrist either but having had orthotics a few months ago this is my understanding.
Having not had issues until a year ago, then blammo, you don't want plantar fasciitis as it' stops you from exercising. I'm not a podiatrist but you might want to see one preemptively to assess you.. always a bit tough when they have a vested interest in selling you something. I'm lucky as I have a podiatrist mate that I could trust.
I have noted that many podiatrists have these in stock.
I wear a pair of these around the house in warmer weather. My podiatrist agrees they're good for those of us with flat feet.
