Steelcase Gesture $1355, Steelcase Leap v2 $1120 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Arki Environments

150

Have been looking at upgrading to a more ergonomic chair, and came across this early Black Friday sale. Various colors and headrest combinations in stock. According to other OzBargainers, the Leap's headrest is very uncomfortable and juts forward. They also have the Series 2 on sale, but that model doesn't seem to get the same rave reviews.

Worth noting that the official Steelcase Australia site will also be having a Black Friday sale, but shipping can kill any deal to be had- almost $300 for shipping to Tasmania. However, the Steelcase Australia site does have more colour options, in case you want a something that isn't grayscale.

First post, please be as mean as humanly possible.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2022

  • I believe the steelcase official store's black Friday sale has already begun and it's 25% off storewide

    • Has it? it says it's still 2 days away on their website

      • +1

        Use this code

        BFSHOWROOM25

        • It says "discount code isn’t available to you right now"

          • @PlushyAngel: Oh weird, was working yesterday. When you visit their showroom they invite you to scan a QR that takes you through to this code

            • @Jfi2ee: Did you have to login at somepoint through this QR code? Maybe it is tied to your account specifically? Do you know if this is the same as the black friday sale they are going to have: https://au.steelcase.com/pages/black-friday?

              • @PlushyAngel: Took me to a website to entry my details, I then received this…

                https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipNVq3oBiGlDez9x8FkQNA_C…

Never had to login into the site, I could add the chair and type in the code and it worked. Maybe they have removed it, my guess on Friday a generic 25% discount code will be emailed to people that signed up to their sale

                • @Jfi2ee: Ahh ok thanks. Guess I'll just have to wait till the black friday sales.

                  • @PlushyAngel: I just tried the code and it still works, I added the gesture to cart and the code brought the chair down to $1,641

                    • @Jfi2ee: Still doesn't work for me unfortunately :\ maybe it only works for Melbourne?

                      • @PlushyAngel: Ahhh maybe, sorry dude

                        • @Jfi2ee: I tried again in incognito and it worked! I think it must be because I was testing with different discount codes before.

    • Ah- I signed up for the "early access" but didn't seem to get anything from them- that still means that the majority are slightly cheaper at Arki.

Paid about $1340 for the gesture from warehouse about 2 years ago. Great team there, you can go try them out there too if you book a time with them. I still don't know if I prefer it over my Mirra 2 or Aeron.

    • +1

During the middle of Covid, that would've been a great price. They got hit with the Covid stick pretty hard.

  • +2

Dang was hoping the gesture with headrest combo was going to be $1300πŸ˜”

    • If only!

  • $399 Radar III is pretty comfy for my ass

  • I have a Gesture for work and a Leap for home. I prefer the leap, its my favorite chair.

    • Can you explain why you prefer the Leap? I've heard that different body types work for the Leap better than the Gesture.

      • I think you just answered your own question πŸ˜‚

      • +1

im not sure exactly why. I just feel more "comfortable". The contours are slightly different but just work a bit better for me. I think the main selling point of the gesture was its more customisable so for a big office environment, if theres multiple people using a single chair, its better.

As I'm the only one using the chair, for me I went with the leap as my second chair (had the gesture for about 3 years before bought a leap). I still sit in the gesture for 8 hours/day at work - and its good, but I still prefer my leap at home.

The Leap is in the same quality range as the Aeron, but one has been blindly recommended and bought so much it's now $2000+, so please just buy this chair instead and correct the market.

The Haworth Zody is another option with the same value proposition.

  • Weird shipping added for me… Selected $99 for local TNT depot, then it also added on another 190 for shipping to Tassie when viewing my cart - so nearly 300 in shipping not unlike buys direct from steelcase,

    • +1

Have emailed them, and they said that TNT will deliver to Commercial Addresses if you select Collection from ARKI (which will tack on the ~$190 on the checkout page), or you can pick it up from the TNT depot in Montrose- only problem is that pickup from the depot seems to tack on the extra $99. Have emailed for further clarification, I'll update you when I hear back from them.

      • Heya… Thanks for that!

        • Yep, they just confirmed;

We have looked into this for you and confirmed the cost to ship the chair to TNT Depot or commercial office in Tasmania will be $289. This covers the pallet costs for shipping to the said location.

Rough. Might wait to see if the Steelcase site can do better than 25% for their Black Friday sale, otherwise I reckon I might bite the bullet.

          • @rcgy: Official store are basically same price. same 25%off but whole store wide for more colour choice. you can go to the showroom and get the code in same day. But their warehouse(sydney one) only open 3days a week. I just made a gesture order form offical store. BTW they need online apointment for showroom visiting.

          • @rcgy: I did, mine arrives tomorrow.
I bought it last week, same deal as posted here.
They are delivering it to my house fully assembled.
I got a leap, think it was $1500 total including shipping to ruralish WA

I have a leap v2 - if you're considering one, and if you like to "rock" your chair when reclining, the Leap ain't for you:
    https://youtu.be/TNkF5ggVUtc?t=193

    • Great to know, thanks. Do you have the version with the headrest? My current chair doesn't have one, but I do feel like I would benefit from the option, and the Leap's headrest is apparently not very good.

      • Same, I read that the headrest isn't great so I opted without it.

        • Does it still feel good without a headrest or do you feel like you're missing something?

          • +1

@PlushyAngel: I've never had an office chair with a headrest. I reckon I would use it if I had one (and fall asleep).

  • +1

I've got a leap with headrest. I use the headrest all the time and can't imagine it without it. Some don't like it though so it's subjective.

  • +1

Have the leap v2 honestly preferred it without the headrest as the headrest wasn't the best. I found it to be slightly more comfortable than the gesture but I think the gesture is targeted towards tall people (I'm 6ft). Leap is super comfortable once you set it up and I'd put it on par with the Mirra and Aerons I've used at work.

  • Looking for the Personality Plus, does anyone know it?

    • If you mean "does anyone know a deal on it", I've got you covered- available from the Steelcase website with 25% off using the code BLACKFRIDAYVIP

      • Sorry, I meant anyone has owned new steelcase chair 'Personality Plus', as I did not see much review, but considering to buy.

  • Is there any coupon code that I can stack with this deal? I missed out on last LEAP15 deal

    • Not that I know of.

  • Any have a family of friends discount code for steelcase direct?
