Exactly why when you purchase it during the promotion, the gift card value is factored in the full price of the product. Say a $2999 laptop with a bonus $400 Apple Gift Card, you’ll be paying $2599 for the laptop and $400 for the gift card, so if you return it you’ll only get $2599 back.
