Garmin Vivoactive 4 Shadow Grey with Silver Hardware $239.08 / $233.10 (eBay Plus) Shipped @ ryda-online eBay

FRIBLK20FRIBLK22

Found this deal via Ryda on their eBay. Listed for $298.85 but applied the FRIBLK20 code and got $59.77 off. Cheapest I've been able to find anywhere so far, next cheapest is the Ryda store via Kogan for $253 using the CommBank cashback of $15 but no thanks.

Also available in Black with Slate hardware.

Older sports watch (2019) but pretty much the same sensors included in the newer $629 Venu 2, this one just has a transflective MIP display as opposed to the Venu 2's AMOLED. In my opinion not enough differences for the huge price disparity between the Venu 2: https://versus.com/en/garmin-venu-2-vs-garmin-vivoactive-4

Has a few basic smart watch features such as Gamin pay, notifications and music player but definitely for those after a fitness tracker that is also nice enough to wear in other settings.

Also says official Garmin AU stock and warranty so the only grey import here is the colour of the strap.

Display type: sunlight visible, transreflective memory in pixel (MIP).

It's not OLED and it's not even backlit LCD just be aware of that guys.
MIP is popular in more fitness focused watches. It's power efficient. Same display is used in the Garmin Instinct series and the Suunto 5 Peak watch I recently posted.

Instinct has much more contrast, even without backlight, than other colour garmins, it really stands out in terms of visibility.

      • +1

Yeah Instinct uses monochrome MIP. So maybe they could up the contrast without sacrificing power efficiency.

        • +1

Yeah Instinct one is monochrome MIP too

No, Vivoactive 4 is colour MIP, quite dim when not under direct sun. Instinct is monochrome MIP.

@[Deactivated]: Sorry that's not what I was trying to say. I edited my comment above just before you replied.
I wrote "too" because I was adding to your statement. But realized now it was confusing.

    • Thanks have updated the post with this info.

Yeah just mentioned it because at first glance the Vivoactive does look more like those typical smart watches where customers expect OLED, compared to a more rugged looking fitness tracker such as the Instinct.
Vivoactive 4 does have Garmin pay though so that's good. But yeah it's smartwatch like, but uses a MIP display.

  • How does this compare to the 245 music?

  • +1

Fairly similar, different aesthetic and target markets.

    A good comparison:
