  • Read through the post but still a little confused. Can I clarify that if I’m on Boost prepaid service & travelling through Malaysia/Singapore and do get an eSIM data only, could I make / receive calls and SMS to / from Australia at least? Sounds like the International calls usually available while being in Australia is not available when I’m overseas, right?

    • I could receive and call Australian numbers/SMS through Wifi-calling with a Boost sim in my phone without the add on international calls.
I'm not sure if having a local data only card will change this. My wife had a physical UK3 sim in her phone and couldn't receive calls/sms from Australia (with the phone in flight mode using Wifi calling), but she could call locally using the UK 3 card and we had a number people from overseas could call us on (a UK mobile number). Handy for making booking etc and for people getting back to us (trains, restaurants etc). For us this was the best of both worlds.

      • Looks like sms/incoming calls is no longer working with wifi calling when overseas.
My wife is having same issues and the only workaround is to add on international roaming

        • it's still working! On the phone right now for the last 3 hours :-P

  • Have a friend just came back from Thailand, she said her iPhone used up $40 roaming pack in 3 days but iPhone all on default, iCloud backup, App update all disabled mobile data, not sure why.
