    • Btw I'm still thinking about pulling the trigger haha. Is it really good? Show us some pizzas! :)
    • Yes. Yes it is.

This extra link is sold out now.

Yeah at time of posting had 5. I ended up buying one of them.

        • +1

          You won’t regret it!
It ends up costing a bit more on accessories, gas and ingredients too but we’ll worth it when you get it rolling

          • +1

@doggmatic: Agree, you won't regret it. Turns out to be a real money saver, 3 X $25 per pizza, each time your saving $75ish, minus ingredients, call it $60ish savings each time. Pays for itself pretty quick

            • @AlwaysOnThePun: That's good. Since we got the coffee machine during covid, could see the savings immediately. And the family loves pizza, infact we had pizza last night!

          • @doggmatic: Already have the gas from a previous gas BBQ, think I need the "flipper" next and possibly the bag? Have other dough already

            • +1

@raiseyoursteaks: I got a pizza peel from AliExpress, was about $20 I think. Just found one basically the same from Amazon, $23 free shipping - https://amzn.asia/d/7b5lLvQ, I got the 60cm handle. The bag is good too, so I'd recommend that, you'll also need the big tray type thing to launch the pizza into the oven (mine came with it included - not sure if they all do). If they have a combo pack it's probably worth it, for the cover, the tray thing, and the peel. I don't have a bag to take it anywhere, no need, just the cover to protect it when not in use.

  • I have heard such good things about the 16" but it is really hard to justify almost double the price.

    • It’s almost double the size.

    • +1

It just makes it so much easier to make family sized pizzas and have pizza parties. Can recommend.

    • pi x r^2 = 113 in2 for 12 inch.
201 in2 for 16 inch. It’s almost twice the price because it makes almost twice the pizza.

      • You won't easily fit a 16" pizza into the ooni 16, not a 12" in the 12.
Need a bit of left right space for launching, rotating etc

But your point is still valid it's a fair bit more pizza real-estate :)

        • Oh okay! Good point :)

    • I agree with you, although Koda-16 is 1.78 times bigger than Koda-12 in area, and current discounted price $990 vs $527 is slightly higher than that ratio, I think manufacturing cost won't be that much more (ie 1.8 time) and hence it is not as good value as the Koda-12. But having said that, I tried an 12" oven and the Koda-16 and can confirm it is a game changer, regarding ease of use as it is much more forgiving when cooking pizza as does not get burnt edges. Also as the oven is larger and higher ceiling you can cook other food in a cast iron pan eg. steak, chicken, pitta bread, roast vegi, etc, so you get more use out of it.
To be honest, for me if I to buy again, I would toss between a Roccbox (if you can get it at current price of $639 or a Koda-16 for $990).

      • Curious why the roccbox over the Koda-12?

        • More solidly built, thicker stone, temp gauge

          They would be my assumptions

        • +3

I am member of Gozney and Ooni group and many food trucks and pop up pizza stalls tend to use Gozney over Ooni, so must be for reason. Mostly they use roccbox and occasionally Koda-16, but don't think seen any use Koda-12. Also when I see people posting their cooked pizzas, the ones from RB seem to be nicer looking (might be operator experience).

Better insulation so less heat loss.
Cool touch skin, so safer for kids.
19mm stone vs 10mm so better heat retention/cook pizza after pizza without waiting due to thicker stone retain/store more heat in.
Rolling flame that is directed up, then reflected down, so easier to cook even tho its 12".
          5yr warranty vs 3 yr.
Ability to add optional woodfire burner at later stage.
Comes with free quality perforated peel.
          In-built thermometer.
Higher ceiling clearance, so can cook whole butterfly chicken in (see Gozney video)
You can get additional 5% referral discount of the discounted $639 ie $607
So $607 vs $529 is no brainer, but its OOS a day after the 20% BF sale.

          • @huntabargain: Awesome, thanks for this - very informative

          • @huntabargain: Good views, thanks. Referral discount could have made it sweet.

          • @huntabargain: Fantastic write up - thank you. And completely agree that the "quality of life" and ease of use of a 16 is significantly better than the 12, moreso than just the size of the pizza. I haven't tried the gozney, but it may be worth a go after what you've written. Out of interest, if you've used the gozney, how useful is the thermometer? For me the most important thing is the stone temp, less so than the oven temp, so wondering how practical the thermometer is.

            • @AlwaysOnThePun: I only tried the Arrosto 12 the knockoff Koda 12 version (for 3 months) then bought Koda 16 on special for $780.
At the time I was thinking to buy Roccbox as well, but there were no deals and $799 was too much as I already bought all the peels.
I never tried Roccbox myself, so not 100% sure how in practice would perform differently. I myself use IR thermo to check stone temp of my ovens. I believe the inbuilt thermo of the RB measure the temp under the stone so it could be helpful to know as this is also useful info not just the surface stone temp, specially when you have thick stone. eg in theory if someone heated the oven on high and used a door then you could get hot surface temp but not saturated heat through the entire 19mm thick stone. But I don't think its a big deal as overtime you understand your oven and know what works to produce a good crusty pizza.
