  • Can attest this is an amazing mic, just need an amp to use it as its XLR.

    • Mv7 variant has USB and is awesome.

It's been lower before, it's just that Camelx3 doesn't show certain BF/flash discounts, only base price changes.

This is inferior to and not tonally similar enough to the SM7B, worse than the MV7 when compared to that's USB output, but not via XLR… weirdly it's not that tonally similar to its XLR output ether.

I don't think this mic really justifies its price point, and I find it impossible to recommend.

    Here's a review and comparison.

  • Would anyone recommend this over the Rode NTUSB USB Microphone? https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/rode-ntusb-usb-microphone…

Sorry, sort of new to this space, but need something for recording content for work (I am a Uni Lecturer)

Assuming they'd have no issue with a condenser mic versus dynamic, yes, but that's also gone on sale for $120-$140 before… there's also an updated version that just released and can be found for $230 locally.

But there's also the Elgato Wave:1 for $78 on Amazon that probably meets your needs, just be aware of the pickup distance of condenser microphones and that impacts the sound.

I wouldn't recommend the MV7X at all for this price, and would point to the MV7 deals for $170-$200 if you're looking for a higher quality level than the models we're discussing here. Use it via USB out only though.

      • the MicroUSB on it is crap, it has no support and they break super easy.
Mine lasted about 30min before cracking from moving the mic arm, now it's via XLR and a Rode Ai-1

Apply for warranty if you believe it to be a manufacturer issue. I have seen people with this issue, but I've also noted said people thrash their mic around on the mic arm.

Not suggesting that's you, nor suggesting the connection couldn't be improved, but there's only so much that can be done for something physically smaller and less secure than an XLR plug design.

The XLR output's quality is horrific though, with audible noise and tonal issues, the mic just isn't wired to use it properly.

Thank you for your advice. I really appreciate it.

    • Wave: 3 on sale atm for 167. I currently use that mic and find it pretty good, but whether it justifies the price increase over the wave 1 probably not for that current price. https://www.amazon.com.au/Elgato-Wave-Microphone-Anti-Clipping-Technology/dp/B088HHWC47/?encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_w=HQVHA&content-id=amzn1.sym.5116619d-6957-4b58-897c-6dcf01a47546&pf_rd_p=5116619d-6957-4b58-897c-6dcf01a47546&pf_rd_r=B0KJZV8V8B4RBFKGEM1C&pd_rd_wg=hGLJX&pd_rd_r=f2c31396-2edb-47b7-a14d-62defdfc554a&ref=pd_gw_deals_m1

      • Wave:1 sounds virtually identical.

        • +1

Yeah there ya go, for that price its a no brainer then :)

  • Can't beat the prime day deal, decent at this price though

  • how come the sm7b are so cheap on aliexpress. ya they might be fake, but i also have seen ppl commenting they sound almost the same as the genuine ones. decision decision….
