Anyone Experimented with Importing Deals from Bunnings NZ?

I'm noticing AEG promotions offered only to NZ customers via Bunnings and they outvalue those offered to AUS customers. The kits in general are better value and taking into account our dollar value and import tax thresholds, I reckon I could scrape some decent Black Friday deals. There is a particular kit which offers a redemption offer worth $999 where the exact same Aus counterpart offers a redemption tool worth half that.

Problem is the shipping. How to go about it? Does anyone know costs involved and issues importing tools? Are there any restrictions and is this idea a waste of time. Also redeeming the tools means going through the exact same process twice.

Anyone else interested in this stuff or have I gone too far?

Use a local Hobbit to purchase and redeem on your behalf

  • Flights to NZ are cheap at moment

  • An issue could also be that the redemption only gets sent after you register the first account so you would have two lots of shipping to pay for. If you had someone in NZ who could purchase the kit, send you serial numbers and receipts so you can register and then receive redemption then package it all up that might work.

I looked at some of the prices of individual tools on Bunnings AU vs NZ and found none that were cheaper.

  • Sounds like a lot of work for not a lot of return. Unless you’ve got local contacts, you’re probably going to burn any savings mucking around trying to get t sorted.

It’s the sort of thing you can do ok with if you’ve got family willing to go to their shop and forward it to you.
