Gaming Microphone - Is This One Ok ?

My child is wanting a microphone for his desktop computer to talk to his friends while playing games instead of using headphones. I was in Harvey Norman and stumbled upon this one - I bought it but now I am second guessing if its fit for purpose - is this one just a recording microphone for say doing content videos ??

The Snowballs capture a crap tonne of background noise. If you tend to spend a lot of time on voice chat, I would recommend spending the extra to get a nicer one.

Even if you plan on using software like NVIDIA Broadcast or KRISP for noise cancelling, the audio quality is not great.

Better off with a head set unless you want to hear your child’s friends abusing each other with some truely shocking wording and phrases as they play their games.

Head sets are also just better all round for gaming then a stand alone mic.

    • Haha I agree - but he already has an ipad on the desk with a group audio chat going (insert my eye roll here !!!) so I hear his random conversations now anyway - bloody kids

Find a cheap headset with inbuilt mic.

It will be quieter for you and more comfortable and convenient for your son.

        • Thanks, I might just do that instead.
