Just to recap my experience with SoSharp:
Received unsolicited emails from them. Unsubsribed. Received more. Unsubscribed. So on. Forwarded emails to ACMA. Forwarded email to ACMA. Replied to their inbox email telling them to f off. Forwarded emails to ACMA.

This deal came up. Too good, credit card protection, wifey wanted it. Bought. They do not deliver.

    This is a dodgy company

  • Moved to forums.

Edit: Added comment in the original deal to link to this thread.

  • What do we think changed their mind?? They must have known it was a grey import to start with. I wonder what's changed.

perhaps it was a cash grab to trump up EOFY figures?

    • hmmm this may have some merit - increase company sales into the $millions and then try and sell the company - after all - past dealings have shown that these companies don't do much due diligence… I can just see it "Groupon buy out fastest growing competitor SoSharp for x $Million s" lol.

  • Back to using my Breville BEM400 mixer then - which is a good mixer, but was so looking forward to getting a KA as that's what we used at TAFE and they are very good. (Just ordered a 2nd bowl for $59 for my old mixer instead, I guess I am way in front $ wise).

And if these were grey imports that had power connectors changed and didn't get a great warranty, we are probably mostly better off… Sure many people might have got a good reliable one, but imagine the hassle of getting repairs if you got a lemon, without Au warranty…

I'm betting SoSharp thought the origianl machines were more "authentic" but after customers started questioning the warranty and where they were from, SoSharp dug deeper and decided it was too dodgy.
Better to refund everyone now and save a bit of face rather than end up with 000's of angry customers and a big bill to rectify the mess later.

  • I just called them and they said they could not confirm that the items were genuine from the supplier (panda2u.com.au) hence they are gonna refund everyone…but I guess their database is bigger now. I am just surprised how are they going to live with the cost off affiliates who have already pocketed 10% per sale - and they sold hundreds if not a few thousand of these…

    • I am sure the affiliates will get 10% of nothing. SoSharp probably only lose some banking fees and get a bit of a worse rep. Interest earned might offset some of that.

  • They sell these on Amazon.com for USD $363.44 delivered, although you'll need 500watt step-down transformer to operate it.

  • I think there are machines available, but reconditioned ones. But then the situation got out of controlled so they had to pull the plug.

Search eBay - kitchen aid and 220v or 240v….there are sellers out there that will export these export only versions without the need of a voltage converter.

  • There was a key discrepancy between the real KitchenAid product and the discounted product offered on the SoSharp site – a safety guard to keep users' hair from being caught in the mixer was not included on the discounted model.

"[The company] just didn't provide me with enough material to give me the feeling that everything was above board and suiting Australian safety standards," he says.
