My apologies. I will follow the posting guide next time.

    • +20

A bit rich seeing as you've been a member since 2008 and even with your just over 1 post a year still can't remember to include the store title

Calling out others but making the same mistakes just makes you an insufferable hypocrite.

  • the 256GB wifi is also 1.5k samsung has them for 1.6k (with 20% Samsung EDU) so Amazons about $100 cheaper.

  • OP. Sorry but what do you mean by getting 12 Amazon gift cards from Aldi. That would work out the total is only $1200.

  • Can price match at JB Hifi and use 15% off TCN gift cards.

    • Looks like the 15% discount for TCN gift cards also has ended.

  • Gvt store has them for $1299

    • +1

      What is Gvt store?

  • 256g 5g one 2188 dollars, think I would wait a couple years if buying.

  • Cashrewards gives 10% (capped $100) cashback if purchased from Bing Lee. Bing Lee sells for $1388. It means with cashback you'll pay $1288.

  • Did anyone happen to order this tablet or any tab S8 model during the black Friday sales and actually receive it yet?

The reason I ask is that I ordered the tab S8 plus for $1098 on Friday 25th November and it still has not shipped. I've received 3 estimated delivery dates since then and when the delivery date is missed I get an email apologising for the delay. Then it gets rescheduled and then misses delivery again as it has not yet shipped. I just received another apology email this afternoon and currently no estimated delivery. Just says "not shipped yet"…

I went on Amazon chat but that wasn't much help. They just said it's stuck in the dispatching phase and can't give me a date for delivery. I've never had any issues like this with Amazon before, I live in Melbourne and the majority of stuff I order from Amazon gets next day delivery without any problems. The tablet currently shows as in stock and ready to ship with 2 day delivery.

I'm thinking something has gone wrong with the processing of my order on the Amazon system side, but I don't want to cancel my order as the price has now gone up $300 and I still really want the tablet.

If anyone can share whether they have ordered any of the tab S8 models during black Friday from Amazon and actually received their order or are having issues like me. It would be great to get some feedback.

    Thanks.

    • I have a similar problem. Ordered S8+ 28/11 and according to Amazon tracking was supposedly picked up by courier on 30 Nov. However, on AusPost website they show it as "Received, ready for processing". Apparently this means "The shipment containing this item has arrived at our facility for sorting. You'll see another update when this item has been processed."
There's no further updates i.e. hasn't been processed. Do they actually have it?
Contacted Amazon on Monday and they advised to wait a little longer. I contacted them again today and it must have been too hard for them as the Chat disconnected twice, resulting in me chatting with 3 different agents. None were particularly helpful - with the last highlighting that delivery on the listing was 1 Dec - 30 Jan delivery and advising it will be delivered within that timeframe (I don't recollect seeing 30 Jan on the listing but it is in the confirmation e-mail). The agent before that said it would be delivered by 11 December. When I asked where by S8+ actually was, he couldn't tell me. So it was probably BS and he "disconnected" a few minutes later, while I was pushing for answers.
It was far and away the worst customer service I've experienced with Amazon and I've had several hundred deliveries in the last 5 years. I ended up closing the chat because I was just wasting my time. I'm hoping I'll get an e-mail requesting feedback on my experience with Amazon's customer support.

      • Mine still has not shipped yet. I've been on Amazon chat 3 occasions now and had the same experience, getting disconnected when they were caught out telling lies. One agent said that there was only had one tablet in stock that was damaged and could not be replaced. But the tablet has been in stock ready for next day delivery the whole time. Another told me that my payment hasn't been cleared/authorised at their end, but I paid for the tablet with gift card balance that was already authorised the moment it was added to my Amazon account. They just won't admit that something has gone wrong processing my order and don't even want to try to fix it. I've been told twice my issue has been escalated but when I asked who or where it's been escalated to I get no response. Very poor customer service indeed. Pretty pissed off now because I could have bought the tablet elsewhere during the black friday sale, now the price has gone up by at least $300. At least yours did actually ship I guess. But I'm not sure what's worse because now you have to deal with both Amazon and Auspost and they will provably just blame each other whenever you try to get answers. My dad ordered a soda stream thing from Costco that was being delivered by Auspost and seems to have gone missing now. Have to wait until 19th December before they will investigate. Hope you get your tablet eventually. If you don't mind, could you keep me updated if you do receive it? I'll post back here any updates I get regarding my order too.

        • I'll keep you updated.
I'm not convinced mine has shipped as it's still yet to be shown as processed. However, I ordered another item 25 Nov (3 days prior to S8+) and it had a similar problem. It was marked received and ready for processing at BWU2 (Sydney) 27 Nov on Auspost tracking but wasn't recorded as processed there.
It took another 10 days before the next entry when it it was processed in Welshpool (WA).
Maybe the same has happened with my S8+ i.e. been sent without being processed or recorded as processed.
If I find a good deal on an S8+ before I receive mine from Amazon, I'll seriously think about cancelling my Amazon order. Like you, I'm not happy - especially with Amazon's customer service. One way or another I will be providing Amazon with feedback about this.

          • @bean_counter: So, I just finished another round of Amazon chat and this time I actually got someone helpful. She said the reason the order hadn't been shipped was because the price of the item had increased and for some reason the system thought I hadn't paid for the order. This didn't really make sense to me as the tablet was listed at that sale price for the full 4 days of the black friday sale and it's not like the price was a price error as it has been sold at that price via the Samsung Education store which I can't access.

She was actually consulting with a team leader about it this time which I had asked the other agents to do so several times but they never did. She said she would report it to "retail support" and that there was a chance I would still get the order delivered. That sounded a bit ridiculous and I wasn't very confident this would change anything as I was previously told that my issue had been escalated twice. So I suggested an alternative solution that I reorder the tablet at full price and be credited money for the price difference of the sale price. The team leader said that could be arranged and I was told that when the order ships she will arrange the credit to my account and contact me about it. Fingers crossed all goes well. She seemed quite legitimate about it and was definitely a lot more helpful than the previous agents I was dealing with.

Have you had any updates in regards to your delivery? My dad's order for the soda stream machine had a tracking update today actually, so that should get delivered next week. Hopefully yours is the same.

I'll let you know if I actually receive it this time and if I get the credit provided. It says it will arrive on Sunday.

            • @Shaun Prawn: Thanks for the update. Sounds like you have had a breakthrough. The status of mine remains unchanged. Unlike yours, mine is already supposed to have shipped - but is yet to be processed at any location. I'll wait until Monday and if still no movement I'll try Amazon chat again.

              • @bean_counter: I spoke too soon. Wasn't delivered today and hasn't even shipped yet again. Received an email apologising for the delay and a new delivery estimate given for tomorrow. But this is exactly what happened last time. This is the only item Amazon has not delivered on the scheduled delivery date (twice now) which makes me think there is something seriously wrong with the listing of this product in their system altogether. If it's not delivered tomorrow I'm gonna flip out I think. I'm $2.5k down and no tablet in sight. I won't ever purchase a high value item from Amazon ever again, too much hassle when something goes wrong.

                • @Shaun Prawn: No progress on mine either. If I hadn't already received a keyboard cover for it and ordered screen protectors I'd probably cancel. It's a good price but not worth the hassle. Everything else I ordered from Amazon's Black Friday/Ciber Monday sales has been delivered (last item received Friday 9/12)

Mine has supposedly shipped but AusPost won't investigate until there's been no tracking update for 10 business days. That's Wednesday for me so I'll contact Amazon and AusPost then and see what's happening.

                  • @bean_counter: Just got off 1.25 hour chat with Amazon. They don't appear to accept there is a problem. After repeatedly refusing to accept their position "it can still be delivered by 30 January" they offered to check with me in 2 weeks time to see whether it had arrived - and would try to offer replacement or refund if it hadn't. They don't seem to understand that there's likely to be a problem when there hasn't been any tracking entries since it was supposedly picked up almost 2 weeks ago. I told them that if it turns out there's been a problem and they haven't bothered to investigate now then I will be making a formal complaint to Amazon. I also asked for a transcript of the chat, which they said they don't have the ability to do. So I copied and pasted into a Word document - and didn't bother telling them I made my own copy.
I've had 150 to 190+ purchases a year from Amazon for the last 5 years. I am virtually certain there's a problem with this shipment but they won't or can't investigate and don't really seem to understand how it's currently a problem.
Another frustrating chat - my 3rd to date

        • @Shaun Prawn I got fed up with waiting and lodged an investigation request with AusPost at 1.30PM AEDT today and at 1.57PM (WA time) my S8+ was processed at Perth Facility i.e. roughly 3 1/2 hours later. Coincidence or the investigation request sent them looking for it??? I don't really care which it is, I'm happy it is now moving in the system. Hopefully I'll get it later this week if they don't "drag their heels".
Anyway, the problem appeared to be in Auspost's system, whereas yours looks like it's an Amazon problem. I'll update if/when mine's received anyway - and hopefully your luck will change and we'll both get our long-awaited S8+'s in the coming days.

          • @bean_counter: That's good news! I was also on Amazon chat last night for at least 90 minutes. I went through 6 different customer service agents. 5 of them just disconnected me when they realised the problem was too difficult. The last one didn't disconnect me but couldn't really give me any answers or fix the problem. She said I should call a 1800 number for Amazon which I ended up doing after work today and I actually spoke to someone that was really helpful. She said it was to do with the fact I had used gift cards to pay and because it is a high value item it takes an extra 1-2 business days to verify the payment before it goes to shipping. This was when she was looking at an order I resubmitted this morning and
selected same day delivery shipping to see if that would fix the problem. I then asked her to check the order for the one from November 25 and she said that the gift card payment had cleared for that order but she wasn't sure why it had not shipped. I guess that extra authorisation process for the gift card payment was messing with the shipping process and caused the order not to ship. It seems she has sorted it out as my order had finally changed to "preparing for shipment" and now says "shipping now". Previously it never changed from "not yet shipped". So, fingers crossed it will arrive in the next day or 2 but I don't wanna get my hopes up too much. I'll let you know what happens next.

            • @Shaun Prawn: Mine was paid for with Amazon credit too (accumulated from 10% off Amazon gift cards from Aldi) - and it "shipped" 2 days after I ordered it.

Anyway, here's hoping that we'll get our S8+'s in the coming days and we get many years of trouble free enjoyment out of them.

              Enjoy!!

            • @Shaun Prawn: Success. Mine arrived today. I wonder if AusPost expedited delivery from Perth. They responded to my investigation and blamed the weather impact on the rail line - and the good news is that it has arrived in Perth. I replied telling them the problem wasn't the delay - I was well aware of delays because of rain and flooding impacting rail transport Sydney to Perth. The problem was the lack of tracking after it was initially received in Sydney. What's the use of having a tracking system for customers if AusPost doesn't record the movements along the way. It was meant to be processed in Sydney and normally there would be another tracking entry about it being in transit to Perth. However, for 13 days, nothing… until 3 1/2 hours after I raised an investigation request (coincidentally???) and it popped up on the radar 3,000kms away in Perth. If it had tracked properly I wouldn't have wasted my time engaging in 3 (frustrating) chats with Amazon or raising an investigation request with AusPost. The problem wasn't the weather it was a tracking system that customers can't rely on.

Anyway, I've got it now and just about to set up. Hope yours has arrived or is imminent…

              • @bean_counter: 😂 Yep, mine also arrived today. Just finished setting it up not long ago. It's actually a gift for my dad but I'm kinda wishing I bought one for myself too 😅… It's a really nice tablet, the size is great and it's surprisingly light weight and thin also. I still have my tab S4 which has served me well, I'll probably keep that for another year or 2 before I consider upgrading.

Kind of funny how we both had problems getting the tablets delivered but for 2 very different reasons and then we both get them delivered on the exact same day. I'm happy now, mainly because I don't have the stress of trying to sort out the problem with the delivery.
