LG C2 55" vs LG CS 55" - Will the 55" C2 get cheaper?

I'm in the market for a new TV and I'm stuck between 2 options - The newer LG C2 55" vs the bitzer LG CS 55".

Annoyingly the C2 was around $2000 - $2200 a couple of weeks ago but is now at the stubborn RRP of ~$3100, with the smaller models getting discounts instead…

From what I gather, the CS priced at ~$1888 is the old C1 panel without the Evo OLED, but with the new processor.

Anyone got experience on the C2 vs CS? Is it worth the price difference, and more importantly do you think C2 will go down in price around Xmas? Cos' it's probbaly the one I'd rather get.

Thanks

      That's what I'm hoping.

Lot's of dodgyish reps were saying the C2 would stay high until they've emptied stock on the CS (hence why they're pushing it so hard) or when the new model comes out next year.

Hard to know who to believe really, but the mark up on the C2 55" is ridiculous right now…

TIL what bitzer means. Thanks OP.

    • Bit of this, bit of that. Just like a kelpie or sheep dog.

    • Had a look at the samsung in person due to price + similar specs I liked the C2 better in the end.
      Something strange about those greens…
      But thanks anyways

      • Samsungs colours are way too oversaturated. Trees look fluoro green and same with anything yellow, always has a fluoro look. With the QD OLED they just went a step futehr with it. Their motion is also a problem. Cant watch movies on it because even with any motion enhancements turned off they still have some SOE in the picture. I like QD OLED but not on a Samsung TV.

Love my new CS! I don't have a C2 to compare it too but the image looks pretty freaking amazing to me! My first HDR set.

If I had one nitpick, it's the speakers are average. But of course they are. That's why I dropped another $550 on a LG S75Q soundbar.

    • That's good to hear!
I'd be interested to see if anyone has experienced both or upgraded between models.

  • is this deal worth mentioning?

    lg cs 55" $1770 - https://www.appliancecentral.com.au/oled55cspsa-lg-55-inch-4…

  • I was weighing up whether it was worth getting the CS at the lower price with the old C1 panel VS waiting for the C2 with the new panel to come back down to it's sale price of ~$2000 (It was about this price 4 weeks ago).

The CS is tempting, but I wonder if the improved EVO panel is worth the extra money, considering the CS is a hybrid/bitzer model of old and new parts.

(Also the reps seem to be flogging the CS model hard due to oversupply.)

I picked up a 55" C2 from JB today for $2200, they price matched Appliance Central. Coming from a 2008 Panasonic plasma I must say TVs have come a long way in 14 years lol

    • I love my Panasonic plasma, but the lack of apps is what kills it. I know I can Chromecast, but it would be a hell of a lot easier without having the need to
