Jetstar Starter Plus Bundles - Food Included? How to Redeem?

I just booked return airfares on Jetstar from Newcastle (NSW) to Brisbane (QLD) for NRL Magic Round in 2023.

I chose the "Starter Plus" bundle which among other things included some sort of meal deal, as well as 20kg luggage, choice of standard seat and whatever.

However when I tried to select my meals during the booking process, having already opted for the bundle, it tried to charge me more for them.

So I didnt select meals and booked with the bundle but without selecting any meals. The booking clearly states I have starter plus bundles.

I figured I could just manage my booking and add meals. But when I try to do that, it tries to charge me for them!

Now after an hour on chat with Jetstar, that chat agent is trying to tell me my bundle doesnt include any form of meal.

I disagree

How the hell do I redeem this food in the Starter Plus bundle and how much do I get?

It says it will say I have the bundle on the boarding pass. Do I just show the host/hostess inflight?

I cannot believe such a simple thing is not an easy answer by the chat agent.

What if the food I want costs more than the voucher or whatever?

It confirms the bundle includes a meal deal or voucher.

      However the page also says:

You can purchase a meal on board all Jetstar Airways (JQ) and Jetstar Asia (3K) international flights. Again, we recommend you pre-purchase to get the meal of your choice. If you're travelling with Jetstar Japan (GK) on a bundle fare which entitles you to a meal, you'll need to select your hot meal at least 24 hours before departure.

However if you pre-purchase on a domestic flight, you get charged extra - so you can't pre-purchase your bundled meals for a domestic trip it seems.

The linked page shows you can pay onboard with card, so I guess if my voucher/deal is $10 and I order $20 of food I just topup with the card onboard.

      Thanks for the link

Seems strange you can't pre-order your bundled food for these domestic flights on the Starter Plus bundle.

You get $10 to spend on board. The flight attendants will have it recorded on their tablets.

When I've gotten that bundle for a Jetstar flight it's been a 15 dollar voucher for food that you can order on the flight

What everyone else said. You just get credit for spending on the in-flight menu card in your seat pocket. Done it a couple of times.

As you said, your ticket/seat is flagged as having a 'bundle' you'll get credit assigned to spend on the cart as it comes down the isle, aka equal to allow you to buy In-Flight Meal Deal or Snack that is offered.

  • Thanks guys. Appreciate the feedback. I guess once you've done it once you know.
