Best Fitness Tracker for Running

Want to start running, and wanted to know the best tracker for under 200. My main needs are seeing a map of where ive ran as well as my pace. I use a pixel 6 pro.

edit: thanks for all the replies

  • You'll mainly track your location/map and pace etc through an app (or various) - e.g NIke Run, Strava, Fitbit etc
    - Google is trying to make things easier regarding the syncing of health/fitness data across apps on Android via the HealthConnect app which is in beta - you should download this to integrate with GoogleFit or whatever apps you end up using.

To be honest, your phone with GPS enabled can track your map and pace sufficiently.

Obviously you can get a watch/wearable like:
Fitbit - is probably the easiest option for you given it's bought by Google and has easy integration.
Samsung watch / Pixel Watch - noting that the new Pixel watch is generation 1

    huawei watch gt 2 / 2e / 3

  • If you're carrying your phone, just get a free account with either Run Keeper or Strava. They will record what you need.

I'd recommend using the phone with the strava app, but buying a spibelt to hold the phone. Then after a few months if you keep at it, a GPS watch could be useful …or you could just keep going with the belt.

I find the belt quite useful when hiking or even just walking to hold keys and phone. For a $30 outlay it's a no-brainer.

Meanwhile, as you start running you'll start learning where a watch can come in handy to help you. I have the base model Garmin and I find it's useful mainly for allowing you to see your pace, as well as distance travelled / to go while you run. However, it could be argued that being able to see this data can be counterproductive - can make you feel more tired than you really are! Running by feel and not thinking about metrics is pretty nice.

  • Try your phone first, especially if you are going to be carrying it anyway.

Otherwise, there’s plenty of watches on the market. I’ve been using Garmin for a few years. Bit more expensive, but does what I want.

If you don't want to carry your phone running (and it sucks having to do that), get a watch with a GPS in it. Garmin are the leader in this space IMO. You can get a Forerunner 45 for around $200 https://www.amazon.com.au/Garmin-010-02156-05-Forerunner-Lar…
