Western Digital has a rebate promotion running from 8 November 2022 until 8 January 2023 on purchase of select products (WD Red HDD, Black/Blue/Red NVMe) with select Australian retailers until their $40,000 promotional prize pool is exhausted.
Problem is the website form is completely broken. Specifically, and forewarning it's been a while since I've touched code, they have a Caldera form on Wordpress not returning a result. The stated type error is "b.jqxhr.responseJSON is undefined"
Curiously Caldera form as of 5 April 2022 was deprecated by the developer. The developer stated (emphasis mine) "However, as with any software not being actively maintained, it is a growing security liability for you and you users in the absence of ongoing security updates, and compatibility with WordPress will eventually break."
Indeed it looks like it has broken and I hope that it isn't a security issue given they're asking for full name, email, phone & invoice (with potential bank details).
I contacted [email protected] to ask them to manually process but they replied asking that I try the website again. I've provided them the above information to help bring to light why it's broken and to ask again that they provide manual processing of promotion submission.
I'm posting here to raise awareness in case like me you've been trying the last few days to process the form without any resolution. It's a pity that far too often rebate programs are complete BS with either limited pools, slow processing or in this case, broken submission methods.
I dont even bother stuffing around with rebate programs now unless it was a super good deal even before the rebate (which is practically never).
