Experience with Apus Corporation - ShoppingSquare.com.au!

I bought a brand new Samsung Galaxy Nexus i9250 from a friend of mine who ordered it from Shoppingsquare.com.au. Within a couple of weeks of receiving the phone from shoppingsquare, the phone developed a fault that the colour of its screen started turning yellowish. I contacted Shoppingsquare (SS) and they did not want to talk to me, as the phone was on my friend's name. So I got my friend to log into her account and send them a authorisation / confirmation that I am the new owner of the phone, however SS still wanted to deal with the service request through the original account holder's login.

Anyway, I got my friend to raise a service request from her account and SS issued a Return Authorisation (RA) number to send the phone back. I sent my phone back on the 25th May 2012, and have not received it back yet. I got my friend to follow up with SS through her login on 15th June, which she did for me, and all SS replied back was "we have received the phone and have sent it to our supplier to get it repaired under warranty…as soon as we receive it back we will send it to you"…. We waited few more days and and finally sent them another msg on the 25th June requesting them to either issue a refund or provide a phone from their existing stock, and pointed them to the ACCC law : http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/1023610

Now, that was when they stopped responding to our messages. It's been about 6 weeks and we still haven't received our phone back. I tried ringing APUS corporation contact number i.e. 02 9666 3055, but no one answers the phone.

Could anyone advise what further steps should I be taking. Did anyone has any experience dealing with shoppingsquare on similar issues ? The sad part is that the phone was only used for about a week when it started experiencing the problem.

Shopping Square may have already sent the phone to the supplier for you, but they're also waiting for the supplier to respond and ship the phone back. This process can take a very long time.

My only advise is to be patient and eventually you'll get your phone…. but if you hate waiting you can continually pester them until they issue you a refund or ship you a new handset — but this probably never happens.

I didn't run into any issues with SSQ, but on a similar scenario with PCCG I returned a Logitech mouse, waited over 3 months (honestly forgot about the damn thing) and they eventually sent me a brand new one back.

TLDR: warranty processes take a long time, it is often out of the seller's control on when you get the item back.

I stopped dealing with SS sometime ago. I have had bad experience with them and they are known to take long time or even refuse warranty. My sister had to threaten going to Fairtrading before they will accept a faulty HDD return. My advice is lodge a complaint with Dept of Fair Trading or at least let them know your intention.

  • I will recommend not to buy from this seller, customer service is less than poor. No contact number just online system to log ticket and sometimes they take couple of days to response and u cant do anything. I purchased some stuff last month and still waiting for those to be delivered. I will rate their customer service in minus.

I have lodged complaint with Fair Trade NSW with all proofs.

I have seen alot of people are facing similar issues from same company, wonder if there is any issue to report this company all together so at least we can save other people to get caught in their trap.

  • Here’s my awful experience dealing with them. It was a Nikon 17-35mm 2.8 Lens.
Item was described to be in Sydney but shipped from overseas. Received 3 receipts with different amount. Sounds dodgy so far? It’s only the beginning.
Item was faulty… I brought it to Nikon Australia as they have BIG SIGN proudly described the item being 1 Year Australian Warranty. But it was NOT TRUE. Nikon rejected my claim as the item is overseas stock based on the serial number.
I called the phone number printed in one of the receipts and guess what? Invalid Number!!!
Extremely slow response…. Extremely disappointing… When I challenged the response timeframe, here’s their reply ‘for most enquiries our response time are generally between 24-72 hours during weekdays’. REALLY? I had someone finally gotten back to me (before he/she/it now disappear again) after bloody 6 BUSINESS DAYS. Which is 8 CALENDAR DAYS.
It has been nearly a month since I purchased the item and 3 weeks since I raised the issue. Still not resolved as I’m typing this review.
It's no one's fault the item is faulty but it's the way they're dealing with it plus the whole inconsistent information provided. I hate to tell someone off but I guess it’s now fair enough if I say they’re just a bunch of people selling bullshit.
They’re really taking the BAD customer service to the whole new level. Extremely unhappy with the whole experience.

  • All in all honesty, it's a waste of time reporting to fair trading. They can't do anything immediate.
I would recommend lodging a 'paypal dispute claim' if u paid with paypal
Or call up the providor of the credit card company that you paid with and lodge a dispute.

I had a s3 faulty with them and the complaints were a waste of time, immediate reversal of transaction is required

  • I know it's been a few years since the first post regarding shoppingsquare.com.au, but for anyone else who might benefit from this information … this company is owned by a Chinese mob, despite the fact that their website has an Aussie URL. Their stock is CHINESE … including all electrical goods, mobile phones, etc … which means that their warranties are not Aussie warranties (and probably only their own store warranties … which could mean anything) …

… and, if you read the fine print (that is if there IS any fine print on the warranty they provide you … IF they provide you with a warranty at all) … it may not be covered under any rules/laws/by-laws, etc administered by the ACCC. Shoppingsquare.com.au most likely send your purchase BACK TO CHINA to be repaired … which is probably why the first poster (above) waited so long … and why the company doesn't bother to respond. You'd be SOOOO much better off buying Australian stock … WITH an Aussie warranty. At least THAT way … you know your item is covered under the law as laid out by the ACCC and state authorities.

You'll find a lot of Chines simply won't indulge in messaging or talking on the phone when someone wants to lodge a complaint or even inquire about their purchase. They simply don't care. They make so much money selling poor quality items to millions of people … and make millions of dollars of those of us who are trusting and hopeful. It's not worth bothering with customer service. They're going to make millions of dollars regardless … because there's a fool born every minute …

More often than not … most people don't bother to complain … this works in their favour. Which is why they sell so much poor quality stuff at such low prices. The two worlds, when it comes to online purchases … more often than not … just won't gel. We, in the western world … have not grown up in a culture of poverty and desperation … so therefore we haven't developed cut throat skills to survive … which is why are are always being duped by these kinds of sites … owned and operated by foreigners (namely chinese) …

Not being racist … just telling it like it is.
