Bad AliExpress Leather Watchstrap Purchase. How to Proceed with Refund and Negative Review?

Bought a "Genuine Leather" NATO watchstrap from AliExpress and it's basically pressed cardboard with some paint over it. It arrived with a clear defect in the surface (a gash in the top layer revealing the material underneath). The underside is rough as sandpaper…it's clearly not 'leather'.

Do I put in a dispute first or leave negative review with photos and then proceed with a refund etc? It's not so much the money (under a tenner) but letting others know its rubbish so they don't waste their time…

….waddaya reckon?

  Raise a dispute claim via the process on Aliexpress, wait, leave review at the end.

  It won't be cardboard but it's likely bonded leather.

  Then remember that 'genuine leather' watchbands are neither genuine nor leather when $10 :)

  (Plus everyone knows NATO straps shouldn't be leather ;) )

    Usually genuine and Aliexpress doesn't goes together and you probably get $2 refund by the seller :)

    bonded rubbish more like it…so far from leather its ridiculous

    i thought… on sale it might be worth a punt with over 700 orders …turns out the negative reviews were more accurate then the positive ones

  Apparently the Maikes ones are pretty good - I just buy the Juelong rubber ones. Cheapish and good quality

    lol…sometimes they are amazing though. was able to find a replacement identical remote control for my yamaha av receiver minus the yamaha logo for $9 aud delivered and its perfect. would have cost me $80 for a genuine replacement here!

  A refund from AliExpress? Is that even possible? Surely you'd have to ship back the item at your own expense which will be at least $10. Just leave a review.

  I'd be careful raising disputes with Aliexpress. One too many and 'violating' their buyer's guarantee can get your account terminated.
