Options for Wi-Fi Enabled Irrigation Systems

Hi all

I'm looking at options for replacing an old indoor mains operated irrigation controller. The current controller is connected to a 3 solenoid valve which is outside.

I have been looking around and had a recommendation for a Hunter HPC -

Whilst looking at that I noticed this Inkbird option which is massively cheaper - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/325126004399?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

Anyone out there got any experience with this and any recommendations for what to look at and what to avoid.

I don't want to go overboard but want something that will be reliable and do the job……oh and Bluetooth isn't what I'm looking for as I want to be able to control stuff whilst I'm away if needed

Cheers

byve by orbit. really happy with mine

    • I saw a place that does the bhyve wifi controller directly off the tap. That looked a great option for the front garden to avoid trying to run wiring from the back garden where the two main zones and legacy controller are. The location of the current setup doesn't allow for a straightforward wiring run unfortunately.

Ideally one controller doing all 3 would be great but sometimes the effort isn't worth it I reckon.

I agree that b-hyve Orbit is a very versatile and reliable controller. I the 6 station unit and control 4 zones with it a find the app very convenient to manage remotely and amend/suspend/delay programs as seasons and weather dictate. I would recommend this unit. I would expect the other b-hyve options would be similar in reliability and functionality. Good luck finding a solution for your situation.

    I went with https://www.bunnings.com.au/holman-wx8-wi-fi-irrigation-cont…
I like the Rain Sensor that overrides the Program if it has rained, so that is a Water/Money Saver.

    • Seems like a deal as it comes with
      8 Stations
      Wifi
      Rain Sensor

The Basic 8 station Hunter contoller without Wifi and Rain Sensor cost the same price

I have the Inkbird, bought it for $85 delivered back in April. It works fine, the app doesn't have the best looking UI but it does the job. It's been 100% reliable for the whole time I've been using it. I bought one for my Dad and he uses it without issue as well.

There was a deal posted yesterday for that which I decided to jump on.

$67 from Amazon, can't go wrong.

The 8 zone has a fancy LCD on it that i've looked at once when setting it up and then never again. You'll be happy with it given it cost a whole $67 haha..

  • Netro has worked very well for me and has smart irrigation built in ie takes into account soil moisture, type of plants, soil composition, weather etc
