  • I got a rainbird sprinkler system, how easy/difficult is it to replace it with this one ? Sorry don't have model number handy.

    • +1

Easy mate. Use masking tape and write the station number on it and stick it to the wire. Replace the controller, rewire the same way. I recommend taking a photo before as well to assist.

    • Hi, it's easy to replace, you could just make a mark on each wire at the rainbird sprinkler system, then you connect it in the same way in our sprinker system.

      • does this device + app allow us to use remotely when we are not at home?

also can you explain what is zones mean with this device?
how many connectors can you plug into this

  • Any recommendations for solenoids to go along with this?

  • Hi, I sit possible to run 2 master valves with this controller? And choose which mast to use on which day/program?
I am running a fertigator and looks like open sprinkler has this functionality so far, so looking at my options.

    • +1
      1. If you just use two master valves without any sprinkler valve, then that would be fine to work directly, however, please note that the output of our system is 24V AC.

      2.
Moreover, this system only has one port for the master valve, if you need to connect to the second master valve, we only could provide suggestions according to your program details. Usually, this could be solved by programming,
you could cover 1~8/6 ports to the day/program which is managed by the master valve during its running period.

Or you could just message or email us if you have more questions.

  • Good timing - our controlled needs to be replaced. Believe there may be a Watercorp rebate for these with water-saving features.

Can anyone comment on whether this is suitable for outdoor-install? This is where our existing controller is. I can't find refence to whether this can be subject to outdoor conditions.

    • Watercorp rebate is only for certain brands

      Hunter Hydrawise
      Hunter Solar Sync
      Orbit B-Hyve
      Rain Bird LNK

  • Ordered an Opensprinkler unit literally yesterday for about four times the price.

    • But this would still have been a bucket load cheaper even at the original $89.99 🤔🤔

      • +1

Opensprinkler is highly recommended and has 8 zones expandable to 72. It's also open source and extremely configurable. So for me the extra spending is justified but for many/most people it wouldn't be.

        • Which is all good.

Looked like your original comment was indicating regret but your were happy to pay the ~$300 so everyone's a winner.

        • Yeah, I have one. Really good device. Can be operated through an App or through the web interface.
          Very happy with it.

        • how many zones does inkbird have and how much expandable

can you explain what is zones mean?
does it mean 8 separate connectors or something?

    • I looked at these but just couldn't justify the high cost :(

    • +1

Opensprinkler has weather/flow sensor/rain sensor integration and this one doesn't.

Edit: it has rain sensor integration.

2.4GHz WiFi only devices need to stop existing.

    • +9

Why, 2.4ghz operates with longer range 5ghz, and this doesn't consume much data but in most circumstances would benefit from the additional range. Also this would stop congestion on the 5ghz spectrum

      • +1

Yes, on point. 2.4GHz has it own perks specially for products where range is more important than data speed.

      • +1

Because only supporting one causes compatibility issues in some cases if you can’t do split SSIDs.

        • 2.4GHZ is about range
which is more important than bitrate for devices like this..

          • -1

@pinkybrain: Did you not read what I posted? I didn’t say it shouldn’t support 2.4GHZ.

            • +2

              @PainToad: never said you did

your point was this device should support 5Ghz rather than just the 2.4Ghz only..
which is not that useful or needed for a low bitrate device like this which benefits more from 2.4Ghz range.

you are not streaming your movies to this device LOL.

and why should it include 5GHz which just increases cost for no real world purpose.

    $67.49 on Amazon AU …

    • Hi, sorry that you could contact the store for get the price difference refund.

  • Can i run 2 zones at the same time? Not talking about the master valve.

    • hi friend, sorry not , but you can connect multiple valves to the same port. but it should made by yourself.

  • this looks like a nice deal. I have some simpler needs, and would love to hear some recommendations. I have a single zone (vegetable patch) that I intend on hooking some strips of drip tubing into. I am after a smart valve for the tap that allows for a pressure reduced to be fitted and ideally something that can be controlled over Thread/Zigbee/Wifi and not Bluetooth. And preference would also be to have something that can work locally with Home Assistant. Anything out there?

    • We will have a new product that can meet your needs . will release in six months

      • thanks for reply. Is there an easy way to be alerted about this when it is made available? I could wait 6mths if its the right product/price

    • +1

If you need something very simple, only 1 station then would not worry about getting an irrigation controller like these one. I would rather just get a tap timer.
Definitely, don't go for the Orbit B-Hyve tap timers as they are not reliable, a lot of issue with wi-fi connection.

Have a look at the following. They have integrated wi-fi version tap timer so no need to buy addition wi-fi hub. However, it will consume more battery compared to Bluetooth tap timers. If you want battery to last longer then just go for a Bluetooth tap timer and wi-fi hub. I have bought one recently from them, so far no issues.

      Smart Tap Timers

      Smart Ball Valve

Thanks a lot. Battery life is a concern so great call about the advantage Bluetooth has, and a nice workaround having it then pair with a wifi accessible hub. Will look into these ones. Thank you

  • Hmmm, I wonder if I can hook this up via Home Assistant, not a fan of having an app for every different IoT product on my phone..
