Not trying to say this is a bad deal. But recently it was a free Beyerdynamic M70 Pro X XLR microphone at Minidisc with purchase of Headphones.
Pretty sure the MMX300 was included, others were DT 700/900 Pro X series and TYGR300R I think all the headphones in the $350 range.

    • No such deal was ever posted on ozbargain if true, there current deal is the same as this except the MMX 300 is $449

Edit: i think you are thinking about https://www.minidisc.com.au/beyerdynamic-m70prox-microphone-… Both headphones are $749.

The offer was already expired by the time I read the email.
I just checked and it was still there. You were right the email says DT1770 and 1990.
I distinctly remember clicking the email link and it showing multiple models of beyerdynamic headphones though so I assumed those were all included. I specifically remembered the MMX300 because of the headset microphone.

Anyway I think Beyerdynamic or their distributor are running these kinds of offers regularly because I remember a few others as well.
Also I think the value it depends if you actually want that bonus product, for example I had no real use for a XLR microphone.

And here's my totally 'special' bundle series, with your choice of:

    Headphone: AKG K371 (closed back over-ear, $150-$180 when Amazon re-stocks), AKG K361 (closed back over-ear, $100-$130 when Amazon re-stocks), HIFIMAN HE400SE Stealth (open back, over-ear $209 Amazon), HIFIMAN HE400SE Non-Stealth (open back over-ear, $130-$140)

    and

    IEM: Truthear HEXA (3BA+1DD, $112, Amazon), 7Hz Salnotes Zero (1DD, $25-$35)

    and

Microphone: Boya BY-M1 (lavalier, $20), Behringer XM8500 (dynamic XLR $30-$35, will need interface and/or cable, $15 minimum additional)

Better headphone, better IEM, better microphone, almost always a lower total price, even factoring in a mic stand/arm.

While that might give you the same function, it's not the same thing as an integrated headset

True enough, but the point was that almost all headsets are poor value for money, though hopefully that changes through AKG, Sennheiser and others with upcoming Bluetooth LE Audio products.

Great headset with a quality mic. The headset alone barely drops to this price, I was lucky enough to pick up an as new one with extra sheepskin pads for <$200 a while back. Not sure I'd spend over $300 on them TBH but I don't have much to compare them to (I've only owned astro's, dt770 & ad700x and these are obviously better)

  • Created an account just to post this lol

Pccasegear also have this on their site which makes no sense https://www.pccasegear.com/bundle/200710/beyerdynamic-mmx-30…

I bought one and can confirm is the gen 2 headset with additional goodies at better price than the standalone headset.

    • Good find. Extra earpads is good. But the drawstring bag I can do without.
