USB 3.0 20-pin adapter

I've only got one 20-pin connector on my motherboard and was looking to get a product like this to allow me to have 2

I also did some searching on eBay and found a similar item at a much cheaper price (after shipping is included the part from PCCG will cost around $50) Would the following item be reliable and work well? What are your thoughts?

Thanks for the help!

  • i do not understand. why do you want to connect it to your motherboard? just buy a whole new pcie usb controller card, eg 4 port usb 3 $13 http://buyincoins.com/details/new-4-port-usb-3-0-pci-e-pci-e…

    • I want another 20-pin connecter cause my motherboard only has one by default and I need two.

  • Here's a cheaper one that I have bookmarked - bit less than the card that you found…

Yes they work well and are reliable. Just make sure to look for the latest VLA (VIA) drivers online, as the ones that the Chinese supply with the cards are usually really crappy.

Why don't you get the USB3.0 Front panel from ebay as well? Or have you already got that?

    • Thanks for the link. I did see that one you posted and thought that the other looked like it had better build quality. At the end of the day they will most likely be very similar but I was just going off the looks.

Could you give me a bit more info regarding the drivers and also a link to what you mean?

Also I'm planning on buying a card reader with another USB 3.0 port on it (http://www.pccasegear.com/UserFiles/bf-fusb3-combo_features.…), but I'll buy it a bit later on as I don't need one in a hurry.
