USWINNERS

Three award winning Cabernet Sauvignon in a mixed 12 Pack. To win awards in the US for Cabernet Sauvignon is like a US wine producer winning awards for Shiraz in Australia - it is plain hard to do especially at this kind of price point!

Producer: Bec Hardy. Sixth generation, Halliday 5*, small family vigneron

This pack includes 4 bottles each of:

Bec Hardy Limestone Coast Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
90 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine.

Lakeside SA Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
Top 100 Wines, USA. 92 points & Editors Choice, Wine Enthusiast Magazine.

Time Flies When You're Having Fun SA Cabinet Sauvignon 2020
90 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine.

Cabernet Sauvignon is the most widely consumed red wine variety in the US, most of which is made dometically in California. Shiraz does not even feature in the US top 10 of varieties consumed! So to pick up three gongs for three Australian Cabernet Sauvignon is no mean feat!

    Ignore the RRP sales gimmick.

It’s an $8 bottle of wine that taste like an $8 bottle of wine. Enjoy

    • -2

These wines were reviewed by one of the largest US publications who rated them at those scores against USD RRPs of USD20/btl, with one being listed in the Top 100 Wines of 2021 in Wine Enthusiast…….. Against that backdrop your comment simply doesn't stand up.

      Cheers! RD

      • I bought these as part of an 18 bottle pack a month or so ago. The Lakeside is delicious and is on the lighter side of your average Ozzie Cab.

        I would rank them

        1 - Lakeside
2 - Bec Hardy Limestone Coast
3 - Time Flies When You're Having Fun

        I have purchased again.

        • Hi @blundeni - the subjectivity of wind is a great thing. My ranking would be the opposite to yours.

What’s also interesting is the stylistic difference between Cabernet made for the domestic market and the preference for a different style in the US.

Enjoy and thanks for the order.

          Cheers! RD :-)

          • @RD ADL:

What’s also interesting is the stylistic difference between Cabernet made for the domestic market …

It starts with slapping 60% off 🤣

            • +1

@MuddyClear: Hi @MuddyClear on the contrary - the stylistic difference refers to the wine style. Herbaceous green styles in Australia, riper, more fruit forward, heavier oaked styles in the US. Re price after WET, GST and shipping costs, you're getting it for around the export price - the trade off, you have to buy twelve bottles not one.

The whole concept of the www.wineshedsale.com.au is outlined here -> https://bechardy.com.au/blogs/blog-news/what-is-the-wine-she…

              Cheers! RD :-)

              • @RD ADL: I wouldn't be too concerned about Muddyclear, they don't seem to know what they're talking about going by their comments on other wine deals.

Enjoying one of your Pinot Noirs now

                • @dav3: Thanks @dav3. Not concerned at all. One swallow doesn’t make a summer. The Pinot is a terrific drop. Enjoy. RD :-)

I would rank them all miles above what I could get for $8.25 in any liquor store.

For my personal taste, I agree with the ranking of @blundeni.

Marketing hype exists everywhere and I've tried some very expensive, highly esteemed wines that are not for me. Just trust your own palate & preferences.

Have enough of the Lakeside left, so this deal is not for me, but IMHO, at this price point, delivered, the other two are certainly no slouches either.

      YMMV!

      • Thanks @opposablethumbs for the kind words and hopping in with words of support.
The argument of value only at $8 doesn’t make sense against the backdrop of published wine reviews at a published price point or where a wine not only achieves a score but is included in the top 100 wines in the US as determined by one of its leading publishers :-)

      • Even at full price a lot of their wine easily stacks up to others in the price range, the fact deals like this exist are definitely a bonus.

Agree with MuddyClear. I've ordered some previously and the wine is ok at the discounted price. Not a bargain. Just marketing.

        @segfault
Each to their own. After posting here relatively successfully for around five years I suspect we’d have been run out of town by now if yours was the consensus opinion.
After making wine across six generations for 169 years with wines at all price points ($18-$100) from multiple South Australian regions and with scores of up to 99 points from the likes of James Haiilday I think the reputation of the family and the wines speak for themselves.
Enjoy the weekend. Cheers! RD :-)

After posting here relatively successfully for around five years

When you're posting 40/50/60% discounts very often, over an extended period, wiser heads are right to be circumspect about the "bargains" mate.

      • +4

You have my support RD - your wine punches well above its (discounted) price point.

        • +1

@Evil-Elmo thanks. You know it, I know it, the industry knows it and the 18,000 subscribers who buy from us know it too. Can't please everyone all the time. Cheers! RD :-)

    • I have to agree it. I bought 12 bottles Village Green Shiraz awhile ago, and never finish them, and also cannot share to any one as its quality.
Pepper Jack is better quality in $15-$20 mark, or Taylor’s Jaraman is in $25 mark, sometimes it’s about $20.
Someone told me because of young age wine, but it has never been true.
Sorry Rep, but it is my opinion after trying a few bottles.

      • All good @SeekBargain2009. Wines with different flavor profiles.
That wine is from the Klavenik Vineyard which borders the McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills, it is, therefore a cooler style of Shiraz than certainly the Pepperjack.
Frankly, I drink little young McLaren Vale Shiraz (though I did enjoy the Village Green as it is cooler climate in style).
It’s not so much quality it’s about different flavor profiles and taste.
That wine scored 94pts and top in category in a blind tasting.
Personally I’m not a Barossa fan but recognize that they are to other peoples tastes. There’s even some of our own wines I’m not keen on but they’re some of our most popular SKUs over 20 years!
Did you reach out to us re returning those wines? If not and you still have them, please PM me.
Thanks for the comment. Cheers! RD :-)

Can’t understand the negativity, totally undeserved.

Thank you. All good @povertytrap - it provides a nice opportunity for us to explain the concept, strategy and pricing for the broader OzB community.
Those who know the brand, the business, the family know the reality.
