[PSA] Some Unlisted Customers Details Were Incorrectly Made Available via Directory Assistance or The White Pages

As part of our regulatory obligations Telstra is responsible for providing Directory Assistance services and the White Pages.
We recently discovered there had been a misalignment of the databases used to provide these services, which resulted in some customers’ names, numbers and addresses being listed when they should not have been. This was a result of a misalignment of databases – no cyber activity was involved.

Telstra Accidentally Published Your Name, Address and Phone Number in Public

    No they didn't.

It was only for unlisted customers.

      yeah….the title is way off

      • unlisted customers , means those customer details that wasn't meant to be listed publicly , yeah ?

who would want telco to publicly list their own name , address , numbers ? maybe jv pty ltd ?

It's okay though, there was no cyber activity. Infers from that what you wills.

  • The blurb about how qualified and good the Telstra CFO is needs a tl;dr.

Someone needs to tell him that no one cares except his phoney director mates.

  • effin idiots….so glad i dont have anything to do with this company anymore

      Guess you are with Optus?

      • +1

i guess someone is in bed with Telstra by removing them from the title

  • Where can i find the list?

err is that those that have identified themselves as unlisted like due to family violence or are officals. if that is the case that is really bad.

worse than optus to be honest

worse than optus to be honest

Not quite, Optus did the exact same thing in 2019.

    • worse than optus to be honest

Being able to reset any Telstra account password with only the name and email was worse than this. Just had to tell customer service "I have a new number, send password to X" and bam you're in.

    • But Telstra has offered free identify theft protection in recompense!

  • It's ok, optus and medibank conditioned all the humans not to care.

Love me a good "misaligned database" just like Putin likes a "misaligned border"

@dcep: SB paid everyone $3 so that breach is all forgiven and forgotten about now :P

      easy mistake to make

      SELECT Name, PhoneNumber, Address
      FROM dbCustomerRecords
WHERE UNLISTED NOT LIKE "%Shouldn't be telling anyone%"

  • Not the first time Telstra has done this from memory.

    • lotsa misalignment
