How Quickly Do Bunnings Change Prices to Match Their Competitors?

So I was at Bunnings earlier today and was at the tool shop looking at Dewalt drills. Price was $5xx. Same as the website. So got the Amazon app out and saw that it was $4xx with next day delivery, so ordered from Amazon right on the spot.

Now back home 9 hours later. Wanting to check some specs and Bunnings changed the price to match the Amazon price.

Wonder if it’s an auto or manual process.

Wonder if it’s an auto or manual process.

    Probably a bit of both.

  • Store never match with online price.

not sure about bunnings , but officeworks do pricebeat 5% off amazon ?

Bunnings has a dedicated pricing team to ensure that all customers get the best price possible at any given time.

So it is all manual, do they monitor ozbargain so that they get their best price the fastest possible?

        • Might just be a staff member commenting from their own acc which is definitely a no-no according to their social media policy, so hopefully it's a sanctioned account.

      • It's the same Wesfarmers team that monitors ozbargain for price errors, flybuys and gift card exploits.

    • to ensure that all customers get the best price possible at any given time.

But do they really get the best possible price? :)

    • Does that mean if I find something popular and cheaper, which mean I can replace the whole team : ) haha..

  • Stores don't even match other stores, on a clearance item for example…

From employee: Bunnings isn't a competitor to Bunnings.
I guess fair enough… But what a technicality!

Also slightly related fun fact: Big W will not match Amazon.

    • Big W will not match Amazon

Big W don't have a price match policy anymore.

    • They can match other bunnings price but they do not do price beat 10%. Correct me if I am wrong. I just read their policy few days ago.

  • pretty quickly

  • Did you even try for a 10% price beat?

    • -1

Nah couldn't be bothered as i wasn't by myself

Bunnings will match Amazon price only for same day delivery. Team member told me that a valid price match updates their pricing nation-wide. So they give up the 10% to very few customers.

    • Think I've only price matched once at Bunnings - a Ring door bell

    • Not sure about nation wide updates. We price matched 3 split system air cons for about $300 discount then about 4 weeks later using the same competitor's price successfully price beat another 2 splits at a different store.

  • I have had Bunnings employees tell me on a few occasions that 'only price beat a competitores every day sale price'.

And refused me when i showed an advert that clearly showed a better price. The excuse was 'its on sale and not their everyday day price'.

No where in their price beat policy does it say that. Just cant be clearance, trade, liquidation etc.

So i emailed the online team and they investigated the deal, and gave me the price beat, tbough as they are busy at moment it took a few weeks.

Received the acceptance email, went in store with my authorisation and order number and picked up the goods.

    • Yeah you'd think it was their own money the way they try and weasel out of honoring their promises. Every time I've requested a price beat they carry on with some BS but I've held firm while still being polite and always got the 10% discount.

    • I've price beat well over 100 products at Bunnings. Every time the staff day that that can't be sale prices and every time I pull up Bunnings price beat t & c and there is know where within the policy that states that. Every time the get there manager and the beat the price. I never purchase anything from Bunnings with a quick instore google session before heading to the check out. For example, I went crazy at bunnings during Total Tools boxing day sale in 2021 when the had a 20% of everything sale. I walked into Bunnings and purchased a 2m stabila level & bosch green beam Lazer level along with 7 other items. I showed them TT's website with the prices and with Bunnings 10% price beat I saved an additional $600 on top of TT's advertised sale prices.

      • Yeah, they make it so hard.. plus one time… i emailed the online team and received a call back and the guy on the phone still carried on about 'every day' price and committed to it regardless of me reading the exact wording of the policy. I think they are trained in one thing, but their policy clearly states another..

  • Usually lees than a week before the next Aldi catalogue comes out. ;)

  • whom are there competitor's.
