  • This is very tempting.

  • very tempting…but my two set old version still working fine.

  • Oh I was looking into this yesterday. Apparent the anc thingy inside the ear piece can get very annoying if you have bigger ears (me).
Anyone know if Amazon allowed returns based on this? Or only faults?

    • Also seen that ANC mic in a weird position.

    • +1

I bought some at launch knowing the ANC issues. Opened the box, carefully put them on, then pretty much immediately packed them back in the box and returned them to Amazon. I knew straight away the ANC would drive me bonkers. I use other headphones no probs, just these are poorly designed. My 2 cents.

  • Can these be used on both Xbox and Playstation?

Confused by the listing because it lists "PC/Playstation/Xbox/Mobile" in the title, but also has a "Pro Xbox" model below.

    • Yes, but not as wireless with both.

      • This is the best answer I could find: https://support.steelseries.com/hc/en-us/articles/6425574353…

Pasted here: All models come with two direct USB system connections, but if you own an Xbox, only the Nova Pro Wireless for Xbox will allow you to connect via the dedicated Xbox port (the second USB port is flexible for PC, PlayStation 4/5, Switch, Mac).

    • Sux that the Xbox version is not on sale :(

    • The Xbox version (which funnily enough hasn't enjoyed many discounts) is the one that works with everything (Xbox S/X, PS4, PS5, PC, Switch, Mobile and Tablet).

The deal here is for the - "Pro Multi-Platform" version, which will work on everything but Xbox. It has to do with some sorta Microsoft proprietary tech they have on their headsets or the dongle tech? This has been a problem since at least last gen, but this also applies to most/all of Steelseries headsets and even Astro (get the Xbox version if you want to play on both Xbox + Sony).

If you don't ever plan on using the headset on an Xbox, then you're G2G with this one, otherwise you'll probably want to go for the 'Xbox version':(https://www.amazon.com.au/SteelSeries-Arctis-Wireless-Multi-…)

  • Wow it was 589 when Black Friday was on.. bought with Aldi 10% Amazon cards and did Cashrewards for extra 7% off

    • Cash rewards 7% doesn't apply to it btw

      • Yes it does btw lol

    • Buy these and return the other ones (they have returns until the 31st Jan)

      • Nah ended up asking for a refund in the difference and got it no questions asked
        Love Amazon CS so much

        • Really?? I never had any luck with this. EDIT - just tried then and they told me to pound sand. Don’t suppose you have anything I can use to prove another CS Rep did it?

          • @Gregors510: Just try again to get a different CSR

I have the arctis nova 7 purchased from Amazon used for two weeks can I return them
And buy these what’s the returns policy

    • +2

Pretty certain Amazon have the returns policy on their website, champ.

    • Amazon have been really good with returns; they're quite chill with no questions asked. I've returned a mousepad after 3 weeks, but I felt slightly dodgy doing it.

    • Just pick “did not meet expectations” when you return them so you don’t have to pay the freight.

Hate to be that guy throwing some audiophile elitism at this but for that much money you could get some hella good Hi-Fi…

    • Any recommendations, are they any good for gaming ?

    • +3

      Wireless though?

    • Keen to see what you recommend for the same price.

    • Keen to see what you recommend

    • This is such a useless comment. There is no comparable product with this feature set that is also wireless and has the same connectivity. If you are going to make claims like this, then go ahead and recommend something that is better and suitable for gaming

  • I like this but its the PS version meaning it doesnt work on Xbox. For people who have both consoles and want something for both playforms the Xbox one is better.

  • +7

It's this price because this is launching in January: https://www.audeze.com/products/maxwell-wireless-gaming-head…

    • 80hr+ Battery Life with Fast Charge for All Day Play in 20 min
    • Ultra-Low Latency Wireless with 3X Range of Traditional 2.4Ghz
    • First-in-Class Bluetooth 5.3 supports LE Audio, LC3plus, LDAC
    • Embedded Dolby Atmos® License (Xbox version only)
    • All-New Reinforced Chassis Built with Aluminum and Steel
    • FILTER™ Noise Reduction Technology for Clear Commuications
    • Award-winning Audeze 90mm Planar Magnetic Drivers
    • USB-C Digital Audio
    • 3.5mm Analog Audio

Playstion version will maybe start at $480-$499 and XBox version likely $50 more, while dongles are not cross-compatible between the two models, the XBox version will work with PS5, just not as tightly optimised for its hardware.

Apparently simultaneous connection types are not possible, but I only see this as an issue for current console users who want music from their phone, as I assume Bluetooth LE Audio will be the standard across all devices in the future.

    • This right here.

Been following the thread over on r/Gaming_Headsets. Waiting for u/LifelongCaboose to get his review unit. I’m in need of an Xbox compat wireless headset.

      • There'll be much better reviews coming. Audeze are doing their best to insist that headphone reviewers are getting this one moreso than headset ones.

    • Any ideas about ordering? seems no international delivery to Australia when attempting to pre-order on their website?

      • Previously Addicted to Audio have handled a lot of the distribution here, and I would expect launch here to be about 1 month behind the major markets.

        • Yeah, saw they were the only ones with the older penrose… actually just sent through an email enquiry asking if they intend to stock them.

        • Audeze got back to me, apparently addicted to audio have an agreement with Audeze here in Australia as the sole distributor. Prevents us from buying directly from them or from other retailers. So will have to wait until they stock them.

    • Are they likely to actually be a better headset? I’m assuming Bluetooth is a big attraction, I get mad interference on the Steel Series if the microwave is on (it upsets the wifi, has done for a while, it shuts down the rear security camera).

      • On paper yes, amazing spec sheet… but until review units go out it's any ones guess. I would imagine these could very likely be contenders for one of the best sounding game headset with those 90mm drivers. WOAH.

        • Size of the driver means little, it's all about execution, but the price point and measurements suggest it's a derivative of their most recent innovations (LCD-1, LCD-5, MM-500).

For example there are plenty of bad and good 30-50 mm dynamic drivers, and there are very few good sounding 60mm dynamic drivers. We're talking acoustics and engineering here, not just the surface area of a speaker.

      • Bluetooth also uses the 2.4GHz spectrum, so my advice would be to position yourself away from your microwave as much as possible, maybe get it serviced if it's giving off that much interference.

        • Perhaps try a 5GHz band wifi setup if that's the case?

          • @T-BARHQ: That helps for their wifi, not necessarily the headset.

    • Planar drivers in a wireless headset seems wild

      • They've been doing it for a while now, the really wild part is the battery life jump this new tech has offered them. These thinner planar drivers that HIFIMAN and Audeze are spitting out don't need to be driven super hard across most of the frequency range.

    • What are the chances they can pair to multiple dongles like the new Astros. Kinda lose a bit of the wireless convenience when you have to move dongles about.

      • These support Bluetooth LE Audio, which means they support multipoint, so the only concern for you will be console connection. You should be able to get a bluetooth dongle for your computing devices.

LC3Plus will be the preferred way to listen to these, I suspect.

    • Q: is the price you listed the expected AU rrp or is it US RRP converted into aud? I mean dont we usually pay a lot premium compared to other regions? Would be great if its really under the 500 dollar mark though

      • +1

Adjusted for taxes and exchange rates, it would be $485 or so. Historically, we're not paying premiums here for Audeze gear, which struggles in the mid-fi bracket.

        • thats good to hear, thanks!

  • How does the sound quality differ from the Artis Pro Wireless?

  • Does a multi purpose headset exist?

I need a wireless headset for gaming, but also want to be able to wear them on a plane or train or when going for a walk. Seems it's always one way or the other and you need 2 headsets like Sony xm4 or Bose QC + a gaming headset. Any company so a formidable option that handles both?

    • -1

Yes maybe research Beoplay Portal by Bang & Olufsen which is such a headset. It’s a hybrid gaming/general purpose headset. Has ANC which is not as great as SONY/BOSE but you can also game with them and be comfortable wearing them in public unlike most gaming headsets. They are Pricey though.

    • ANC kills sound quality, Bluetooth also kills sound quality. Bluetooth leap is starting next year, ANC progress will be tricky beyond machine-learning processing of outside audio.

Some non-ANC IEMs would solve many of your issues, but then fitment may be trickier.

  • +2

Btw I managed to knock off another $21 by adding something else from the 6% range. Cheapest I could find was this

Didn't order due to the ANC protruding issue but still tempted

    • ANC protrusion was one of the things putting me off but after buying it on sale, can confirm it doesn't affect me at all, super happy!
