Best value 5g prepaid SIM plan for about 50 gig?

Hey, just got a 5g phone (Motorola edge 30), I use between 40-60 gig of data per month and live within 10km of the centre of Melbourne.

Wondering if you guys can give me some recent suggestions for a good value 5g plan given this?

I admit I know very little about 5g.

Thanks!

  • I'm sure there is better out there, but there is Amaysim. https://www.amaysim.com.au/plans/mobile-plans/5g-plans/
    60GB for $55.

They use the Optus Network, so check your location here

We are in the Optus 5G coverage area, but near the edge, and unfortunately are in a hole. Lucky we just got FTTP a month ago.

  • Aldi mobile is the same. They use the Telstra Network.

I'll keep paying $30 for 4G at the moment even though I have a Galaxy Fold 3 5G.

  • I'm paying $10 per 28 days for the first 6 recharges for 55GB per 28 days on Amaysim, hopefully they bring that deal back! (was on here a few days back).

    • Is that the 5G plan?

Ah, sorry, no it's not. I've never really noticed the difference between 4G and 5G so I didn't even know until I looked just now.

I admit I know very little about 5g.

The first thing to know is that you probably don't need it.
Don't assume it would benefit you. Is your 4G not fast? faster 4G from Telstra retail might be better than another carrier's 5G where you are.

I switch from 4G to 5G all the time (switching providers on new customer offers), I never even bother to look now as I don't notice any difference for real-world usage.
I certainly would never pay a premium for 5G with any provider.

    • Actually my phone does 4g+ which gets me around 125 Mbps. Faster than I thought it would be and yeah more than fast enough. Guess I don't need 5g..

Although I wonder if the ping is better on 5g?
