Do you have the mini AX?

    • Sorry not currently on our eBay store.

      • Any deals on that in the future?

  • Thanks OP, got one. I'm assuming this comes with the standard 3 years warranty?

  • Tempting. But I honestly don't mind the sound from a normal TV. What do people recommend?

    • +5

That's really subjective - if you've got a decent TV, the speakers may be adequate (some have built in sub woofers for example), but generally speaking a sound bar will add additional frequencies and give a better experience.

      Transmission Audio Ultimates

Seriously, as TVs have become thinner sound quality has deteriorated with only a few mainstream exceptions having okay output i.e inbuilt Onkyo speakers. Almost all do not do today's streaming services justice when it comes to available audio quality output.

if in Sydney check out the Life Style Store in Northmead or similar stores with demonstration facilities.

Last time i had an hour to kill and went into the lifestyle store i ended up spending $500 on an amplifier after talking myself down from $3000 on speakers and a tube amp.

        Its a dangerous place.

    • I think this is worth getting. Have one as PC speakers. New tvs have crap speakers.

  • can i use this as pc speakers?

    • +2

I use it with the optical cable for sound.

    • I'm using one as a PC speaker, via a 3.5mm cable. The only real consideration here is that the unit goes into standby after ~10mins if it hasn't received an audio signal. Once audio does come through, the first couple of seconds can be lost as the soundbar wakes up.

If it annoys you there's a few workarounds floating around the web (example) to send an inaudible sound on a schedule to keep it awake. Just need to make sure the volume is high enough so that enough voltage goes to the unit to wake it up.

      • Optical cable would solve this wouldn't it?

        • Not sure, I don't have an optical output to test with unfortunately - using it with a laptop.

If a continuous light / idle signal through the optical cable is enough to keep it active and you have that option, would be much easier!

  • Is this good to use on a tv in the bedroom ?

    • +2

Yes, just turn the sound up to 11 so you don't sleep.

Bought one of these some years ago. Decent sound for the size of the unit. Less impressive is the HDMI CEC operation, but they would not be alone in that area. After a couple of years, the subwoofer started to crackle. Would not buy again given the life span of the unit I had.

  • Mmmmmm, not sure if i have to get one, is the bass powerful enough for a good movie night?

    • Sufficient for a small living room I would say. Depends on how big the room is, but I found the volume and bass to be reasonable for the size of the unit.

Thanks, OP, got one now. I'm eyeing this Soundbar since 2019!

Just be mindful that this model including the Magnify Max suffers from crackling sound. I have the Max model with 2 surrounds and the subwoofer & surrounds keeps popping randomly, sounded like you're cooking a popcorn. Some users reported it here too: https://forum.polkaudio.com/discussion/177668/magnifi-mini

  • The quoted 150W of power, is that combine RMS across the 2 units?

  • sitting here looking at my Altec Lansing subwoofer with wee lil speakers sitting atop that I bought for my pc in 2007… still using on my TV now… not a crackle or a pop and great sound.. only reason I keep looking at others is the square real estate it takes up.. could be another shrimp tank. Came here to see if I could be swayed by the price but then see a massive square unit! lol.

  • Anyone know when was this release?

  • OP, gonna discount to $185 for boxing day?
