What Are The Best eSIM Plans out There?

Hi,

I need to get 3 eSIMs for 3 people in the family, we are moving to AU recently and need to keep the original number on physical SIM, hence only eSIM is considered.

So far, I am looking at WoolWorths Mobile (more for 10% off shop) and Amaysim, what are other good options in general? I am open to both prepaid or month by month options. No need to be specific to the promotion, but what are the generally good VMNOs?

Thank you!

How do you define 'Best' ?

    cheapest?
    greatest coverage?
    call quality?

  • Thankls. I think should look at value for money, but I also understand promotions will change the equation, so just in general. I am not so concerned about coverage since most of the time in the metro area, call quality, I think may not have much difference anyway.

  • Woolworths is a good choice with the 10% off a shop monthly. Has reasonable coverage on Telstra wholesale. They still do not have VoLTE/VoWIFI but it has been promised by the end of the year I believe.

    • Thanks, what is so great about the VoLTE/VoWiFi? It only helps on the call quality and VoWiFI can help when there is no signal, right? Just to learn :)

      • Yes, I think the call quality is better, and VoWIFI is good if you are out of range. For me the main draw card of VoLTE is the ability to use data and voice at the same time. Without VoLTE your phone will drop back to 3G when you are on a call. If you are tethering your laptop at the same time as you are on the phone, you will have issues.

        • I see! Thanks

What if using VoWIFI overseas, does it mean there are no international roaming charges?

          • @ozrekeno: Never tried, but I am lead to believe this is the case.

Just checked my Woolies sim and Wifi calling and VoLTE is working!

        • No way! That was the deal breaker before for me!

Amaysim is quite good too if you gave good Optus coverage. They often have decent deals if you keep an eye on OZB. I like how they let you pick your number when you sign up and need a new number.

      Thank you! Will monitor!

  • If you don't mind us asking which country are you moving in from . Mostly boost or lebara will offer physical sims with unlimited calling. If you home country lets u get an esim , get that and just get a physical one here.

    • Singapore, but in order to retrain a number there with minimum cost, no good option for eSIM. Of course, I can move SG SIM to another phone since I mainly use it to receive SMS now. but we have 3 in total, and need 3 spare phones, which would be a hassle.

  • Gomo $15 per month. First month free on esim so sign up for most expensive plan first month to bank the data which can roll onto $15gb plan
