Dog Tooth Extraction Cost in Melbourne?

Hi guys, has anyone had tooth extraction done for their dog for a cracked upper carnassial tooth?
We've been quoted $1.4-1.6k for general anesthesia, x-rays, extraction and cleaning. Does this sound right?

  • seems expensive, my old girl had 13 teeth out and it cost less than a grand

    • May I know which vet/dentist you went to and 13??? wow!

  • it was in perth - a vetwest clinic

13 - she was an old dog!

  • +1

That does seem a lot for 1 extraction. Our older dogs have been around $800 for multiple extractions. If you have a green cross nearby could use https://www.greencrossvets.com.au/healthy-pets-plus/

Gets $200 off dental, the per-anesthetic blood tests would be covered by it. Total cost would be $540 - 200 - whatever the costs are for blood tests, might work out better depending on the break down of the quote. Would need to talk to Green cross to confirm though.

    • Thanks I called them just now and was told to come in for a free dental check to get a quote hopefully its much cheaper than my current vet!

  • Seems very high, my pup had a tooth which did not fall out when he was a puppy and vet quoted something like $600 but said wait a few days as it was pretty close to coming out, 2 days later his chewing on some meat and boom tooth came out. I would get a second opinion but don’t mention to the Vet what you’ve been quoted before!
