[iOS, Android] ANZ Save Account (App-Only Account) 3.75% p.a. Interest on Balance Less than $250,000 @ ANZ Plus

240

Previous month's interest rate post here

ANZ Plus have pushed an interest rate rise through again, this time a little late but effective immediately.

Note it's an app-only offering and all customers must have a ANZ Plus and Save account open to use. Completely separate system from ANZ proper - older accounts will not show in ANZ Plus.

In my opinion a decent alternative to Up and ubank, although I did run into some customer service issues recently where chat took weeks to respond. Might be improving - not sure.

FAQs around ATM use because someone always asks:

ANZ ATMs as well as ATMx are free to use. No domestic ATM fees. Cardless withdrawal using mobile wallet with contactless reader on ATM (not tested this, though).

ANZ Plus has access to Smart ATMs in branch, including note, coin and cheque deposits (tested working). Can also withdraw including the ability to select $10 and $100 notes where stocked (tested working). No Bank@Post like other ANZ products.

Does have 3% international transaction fee. Does have $5 international ATM fee, except at overseas ANZ ATMs (such as in NZ; confirmed with a Coach however not tested).

    • Cardless withdrawal using mobile wallet with contactless reader on ATM

Tried using Google Pay and worked no worries (even though no EFTPOS on GPay, if that mattered)
No other neobanks offer this as a feature if I'm not mistaken?

My experience was pretty crap when trying to sign up with them, couldn't verify IDs even after checking them manually. (And the same IDs were just fine with other banks).

YMMV but for me it didn't worth the hassle…

Ubank is 3.85% when depositing $200+/mth (you can xfer it out again).

  • I signed up to this a month or so ago. Pretty straight forward.
I can PayID back to my everyday bank account instantly.

Only fault is I couldn't figure out how to make a joint account, only an account in my name. Ubank sign up process for a joint account was easy as.

    • it still doesn't support joint accounts

I signed up and regretted it. They had a certain withdrawal limit. You can't get help if you want to withdraw more than this in a hurry. If Basically if you have a problem, you can't ring them or go to the branch and their messaging customer service is extremely poor. There are better banks out there such is Ubank.

    • Do you know what the limit would be? Thanks

    • Sounds about right, if you're going to have no branches or call centres you better have rock solid live chat

  • Who is ANZ ?

  • Went to ANZ branch. This product is completely separate from your branch account. It won't appear in your normal account when you log in online. You can't do anything with this account at the branch. Only online.

Also cust service at the branch recommended you set up both of the online app accounts as the maximum you can move through pay anyone via the save account is 30k. So she thought that from save to plus you could move the whole amount and then send all to your regular account. But nothing mentioned on max transfer in the fine print for the plus account.

Would be a pain of you needed all the funds immediately.
