PC Upgrade Advice

Hi OzB team,

Wanted to some feedback on my current PC setup what I should be upgrading apart from just the CPU and GPU. The PC will be used for gaming (battle royales) nothing to intensive but I am wanting to maximise my FPS. My current build is 5 years old and I could sit on it a bit longer if it were worth waiting for any new GPU/CPU related updates although the CPU Cooler and RAM rgb is turning yellow :D.

Current System Specs
RTX 2070
Ryzen 5 2600
32gb DDR4 3200mhz Corsair Vengeance Ram
Gigabyte GA-B450 AORUS PRO
Coolermaster ML240R

I was thinking about going for a prebuilt techfast PC and just swapping out some of the parts so then I have 2 PC's, specifically the 4080, 5600 deal.

Would these parts swap out and would i be losing out on performance? should i upgrade the MOBO too?

If you intend to own 2 computers, then why upgrade the first one at all? Just purchase a second, higher end PC with your desired RTX4080 specs and don't bother swapping out the parts.

    • i guess this is also an option but techfast have some incredible value.

      • i second scrimshaw, if you already buying a prebuilt PC, if you want your own data easily just transfer directly or stick it into the new PC, and upgrade the new one.

Whats the power supply that you have? That will restrict what gpu you could add in. What resolution do you game at and whats the max refresh rate of your monitor.

Hopefully you can just drop in a 5800X3D and a newer GPU.

  • The GPU is still good. Just upgrade the processor at least to a ryzen 5 5600 and bobs your uncles brother. Otherwise above suggestion.
