Microwave Recommendations - Which Do You Think Is Best?

Hi -

My microwave has recently passed on to the next life and after spending the appropriate amount of days mourning it, I am ready for another.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good microwave? Want something good quality that will list last and works well.

All recommendations welcome.

    LG neochef.

    • Multiple comments on multiple neochef deals say that they tend to die after ~2-3 years so I assume this is common knowledge. Why do you recommend the Neochef?

Mine has been going for last 5 years. No issues.
Just last week I noticed one of the line in time doesn’t display anymore. Could be a quick fix. It’s never missed a bit.

    contempo.. only the finest

    • 2 minute noodles like a pro and 20 second bread defrost like a fine french pastry baker.
My friends watch in awe when I make a 35 second frozen bread vegimite and cheese melted sandwich

      • I look with contempt at contempo products

  • I have been looking for a very quiet microwave, and one that doesn't make loud beeps when it finishes heating up food. My previous one was Sharp, and current one is Samsung, and both are loud. Would appreciate if anyone can recommend a quiet one.

    • Why dont you just turn off the beep function all together so its silent.

      • How?

      • There's no way to turn it off (at least not from the menu settings, and I'm not techie enough to open it up and mess with its internals). Also, I got the brand wrong. It's a Panasonic ( NN-ST655W 32L Genius Microwave 1100W), not Samsung.

        • Ok. My samsung has a sound button next to the clock that turns the sound on/off when pressed.

          • @aesthetics: Unfortunately mine is Panasonic, and it doesn't have that option. And its beeps are loud, and 5 times. Sucks when you need to use it late at night, and you live in an apartment building.

        • you just wait till it hits 1 second and either press stop or just open the microwave, as whole though, panasonic make good quality microwaves

  • Microwave tech is old schools, best in which way? Its all about size and features these days.

It depends on your needs. Most brands are fine. The LG NeoChef that I bought one year ago is pretty good. Unfortunately, I do not recommend those from Kmart or Aldi.

  • My previous Kmart lasted me 6 years before I upgraded to LG NeoChef. Kmart one was still fine but was just a bit small.

    Panasonic or Sharp
    Made in Japan variants

    Breville, because it's slam proof.

    • I'm looking to get a Breville in the near future. Has yours lasted a long time?

One that keeps beeping at regular intervals after its finished…we keep leaving stuff in the microwave by accident because we forget to get it out after the initial beep sequence finishes.

Most are fine; the 3 things I noticed differed a lot between microwaves

    1. ease of programming. If you want to punch in 45 seconds, how many buttons do you have to push? some with full keypads its '4 and 5' and 'start'. Others require a push to get to timer, then pushing 4 x 10 seconds then pressing 5 x 1 second.

    2. visibility. Samsungs can have very dark doors. Do you want to have some visibility of your food? Or you dont care

    3. programs. Some have 200 programs and some have 10. do you ever use them? I barely do, I'm definitely a 'use and test and then keep going if needed' person, but other people seem to use them a lot

Anyway, I ended up with a sharp but in part because the small LG (my second choice) was too small and the bigger version was too big for my space. Sharp isnt the cheapest but works well, very simple to use. Can turn off all the sounds and beeps

    • Can you please tell me the product number of that Sharp microwave? I want one that lets me turn off all the sounds and beeps.

  • I need a new Microwave and looking at the NeoChef, but worried about Bluetooth and Wifi interference.

Do all NeoChef models have this issue?
