Any Recommendations for Good Office Headsets?

HI All,

I was using a Jabra Evolve 65 for my office meetings. Pretty happy with its function but its broken and looking for a replacement. I have a Bose QC35 II but it's over ear and not so comfortable for long hours.

Could you please suggest any good headsets that I can track for Boxing Day deals?

  • Type: On-Ear or Over-Ear headphones
  • Good connectivity without any drop outs and range
  • Good microphone
  • Comfort: Comfortable to wear for long hours
  • Battery Life: Good Battery life, at least 8-9 hrs
  • Price:$200 - $300 (after deal discounts)
  • Noise cancellation: Good to have but not looking for ANC

Please help with your suggestions.

I know it's not the style you've asked for, but have you considered AirPods Pro? They're $300 on Amazon during deals.

I use them daily for MS Teams calls bluetoothed to Dell work laptop and they're fantastic. Sync quickly, clear audio, clear microphone, noise cancellation, very comfortable and easy to remove one to have face to face conversations in office then pop back in.

You get about 4-5 hours of talking time per charge. Generally only charge once during lunch by putting back in case for half an hour tops. You get 1 hour of use per 5 mins of charge. About 18 hours total per full battery case.

Once work done, switch over to iPhone to listen to music/make calls and carry on your commute/shopping/walk about town etc.

    Worth a consideration.

    • Plus you look trendy wearing them.

      • 4-5 years ago maybe, not so much anymore.

      • Hahaha - no

      • I love how for decades only middle to older aged Asian businessmen would really be seen out and about with the single bluetooth clip on/in ear piece.

Now I can easily count at least 30 people during my daily travels with an earpiece of some description.

Shoutout to our now 24-7 online work culture.

        • I mean, I just use mine for music…

I had to switch away from inner ear buds. No matter your cleaning regime, having them in your ear canals all day every day can lead to some terrible recurring ear infections. Do a google/reddit search of airpods and you'll see lots of reports and discussion.

I use Jabra Evolve 75 now and they work great.

Thanks Mate. Will track this for Boxing day deals

Have the Jabra 75 as well, great range, good for long sessions on calls etc.

I'm also using the jabra evolve 75 and love it

Thanks for your response. I do have airpods Pro, but I don't find them comfortable for long hour calls. Often get a headache after using them for longer duration and hence had switched to something like Jabra Evolve 65.

  • If using for WFH:
the Plantronics Voyager 5200 (USB edition).

Best voice & hearing clarity with a compact, in ear design. Pairs easily via USB for Teams calls and connects via Bluetooth to mobile. Also has portable, charging case etc.

This is in comparison to my Bose QC 35 & QC ear Bud II, if for in the office use or where there’s lots of background noice better to go with a double ear style.

    • Thanks for your response. Looking for an on- ear or over- ear headsets. Personally, I didn't find the in ear headphones comfortable for long calls. My day is around ~4-5 hrs of meetings.

      • These are a combo of in-ear but around the ear style.
Like you, I’m on Teams 6-8hrs a day, I don’t even notice I’m wearing them!

  • Good connectivity without any drop outs and range

If you can get work to swing out for it, I love my engage 75. Works on DECT so get insane range. I get easily 40m away from my desk, and can still reliably stream a call/music etc.

    • Thanks for your response. I will track this for any deals and see if I can get one in that 300$ bucket

      • FWIW i got my engage 75 for $379 at mwave in march, you may need to manually track the price as i doubt it will get posted as a deal even if it drops to this price again as its such a niche product.

cant really think of any cons, other than a weird bug with iphone where it will somehow max out the volume, to over 100%, seriously that thing will blow out the in-built speaker of the ringer one day I reckon. Android does not have this problem (from my experience).

        pros:
        decent noise cancel
        ridiculous range
good/smart swap between two phones, and a yealink t48s desk phone
good battery life (i do about 9 hours a day and it lasts pretty much the whole day between streaming white noise when not doing calls, and actually taking calls).

        • Thanks for the details. Do you have any idea how this compares to the Jabra Evolve 75 please ?

          • @BamOz: havent used the evolve sorry but the biggest thing is probably evolve does not work on dect so it depends how much you care about range.

fwiw when im out of office i use airpod pros, i have wh1000xm5 but prefer APP tbh.

  • There are a few posts recommending in-ears, but in my experience QC35s are more comfortable than Airpod Pro's for long periods. I haven't tried, but I wonder how shokz would go down

    • QC35s are good but since they are over the ear a tad uncomfortable than on ear

  • I use the JLab Go Work at my office, really great battery life, lots of connectivity options and good audio/mic quality. Can be bought from JB for about $120. There is also an over-the-ear option for a bit more, found them much better than my previous Jabra's that work supplied.

    • Will take a look

  • Worth also considering bone conduction headsets.

In-ear or Over-ear - you end up blocked off from what's going on around you, and either sweaty ears, or ache in the ear canal. Bone conduction are effectively anti noise-cancelling - keeping your ears unmolested and working as normal. No sneaking up on you.

And if the office is really noisy, you can always put in proper ear plugs and block out all of the sound, with the headset still working because it isn't actually using your ears.

    • Intresting info. Thanks. Will see if they are in my budget range and if so worth considering.

    • Is Bone conduction earphone comfortably worn with spectacles-glasses ?

      • Depends on the headphones, but generally the transducer sits just in front of the ear, with the rest of the band going over the ear and around the back of the head. Therefore the spectacles and the headset could interfere, though I think most people find it OK - that's certainly the reports I've seen.

        https://headphoneuniversity.com/can-you-wear-bone-conduction…

        • yeah i had read that.. but thought of checking with users directly

  • I am using Google Pixel Buds Pro at the moment and they are great. But nothing has the noise suppression (for the microphone not for the headphones) equivalent to that of the Jabra. If I have a lot of speaking/presenting to do in the meeting I will preference the Jabra over the Pixel Buds.

If you liked it some much, just get another Jabra?

    • Thanks. Yes, leaning towards Evolve 75 but there some other great options suggested here. So will track those and pick one on Boxing day

  • I bought a pair of EPOS H3 Pro Hybrid Wireless a little while back off Amazon to use for WFH and gaming.

Personally find they're pretty good over a few hours of wearing and the mic quality is pretty good (according to my colleagues on the other end).

Three ways of connectivity using Bluetooth, USB cable, or standard 3.5mm (latter two cables included). Can also connect to two devices at same time using BT + 3.5mm.

I probably use mine for at least two hours a day, so I charge the headset every few weeks. Battery life according to the website is up to 38 hours BT audio.

    • Thanks for the detailed info. Will take a look

  • Why not get about Jabra Evolve 65?

Its little outdated, so I was leaning towards Evolve 75 but the intent here was to undertsand if there are better headsets for the same price range.

  • Audio-Technica ATH-ADG1

Can see brand new one for 178 posted on ebay, had mine for like 5-6 years

    • Thanks. Will take a look and track
