Beware if you want the ps5 version you cant upgrade this one

    • It says on the cover of the box 'PS5 upgrade available'. What does that actually mean?

      • it is available, but you just have to pay for it (~$15)

      • Pretty sure you have to pay to upgrade PS4 Morales to PS5 Morales, something like $30 after you install the game and get access to the upgrade on PS Store. Same for most cross gen games on Sony except Horizon FW.

People all over getting ripped off by Sony's shady pricing and marketing tactics this generation, totally puts me off Sony. As if the Mums and Dads this Xmas properly understand about which version of games to buy.

Xbox you buy the game, stick it in and the xbox server downloads the best version your system can handle. No BS, no varied charges.

Agreed, wish sony wouldnt be so anti-consumer with their practices. (I have a PS)

@ruddiger7: I'm not happy it costs 20 dollars for Death Stranding to be upgraded.

I've been considering if it's even worth the upgrade to ps5.

            • @Dunan: Its really not. A shame he cant pump out more metal gears instead.

    • I dont think that is true. You might be referring to the original Spiderman for PS4 which has no way to upgrade to PS5 unless you pay big bucks for the Ultimate Edition upgrade which gives you the Remastered + Miles. Standalone Miles Morales PS4 version can download an upgrade patch for free.

      https://www.kotaku.com.au/2020/09/sony-confirms-theres-no-fr…

      • Thanks for confirming. I did actually do research for my earlier post and several results on Google tell me the upgrade is not free (possibly articles written before the game was released).

Now I search for "free upgrade" for Miles Morales and I can see you are right, and the PS Store says so in the fine print:
        https://store.playstation.com/en-au/product/EP9000-PPSA01417…

If you already own the PS4™ version of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, you can get the PS5™ digital version at no extra cost and you do not need to purchase this product. Owners of a PS4™ disc copy must insert it into the PS5™ every time they want to download or play the PS5™ digital version. PS4™ game disc owners who buy the PS5™ Digital Edition disc-free console will not be able to get the PS5™ version at no extra cost.

The fact that this confusion exists, however, is exactly the point everyone is complaining about.\

        • I love the last line. PS4 game disc owners who buy a Digital PS5 wont get the PS5 version. They are probably expecting PS5 Digital owners to bring their physical copy and storm the HQ demanding their free Miles Morales upgrade. They just have to cover all bases!

But i agree, Sony's implementation of the upgrades is confusing AF. Xbox in that sense makes better decisions.

  • Noob question, just picked up a PS5. Is there any difference between PS4 and PS5 physical discs other than the case and disc artwork?
Picked up the PS5 disc for $39 but wondering if I can save $10 by getting the PS4 copy

      I believe PS5 version get 60hz

    • -1

You'll get the PS4 version running on your PS5.

      • edit: since confirmed there is a free PS5 upgrade so long as you have the disc edition PS5.

Nice! Just picked this up. Given its a shorter game than the original, I didn't want to pay much more than the usual DLC price to get it.

  • Great game for a great price. For some reason I liked it better than the original. Yesterday was Horizon, today is this.

  • Bargain at this price thanks

Expired already? showing $39 for me.

  • Shame I missed it at $29, thats the right price point for this game. Currently says its at $39, hoping it drops again.
