    Airbnb is past its prime. Hotel rates or more without hotel service, and i got to clean the place up, take out the bins and still pay "cleaning fees" ??

    Maybe 50% i'll bite.

    Also airbnb isnn't doing so well, might be another case of deliveroo.

      this old chestnut. Do proper due diligence, choose your property well and you come out on top. I've booked/styed dozens. Always cheaper and better than similarly priced hotels for our needs

      I agree, but it depends on the location and the number of guests, I'm looking for an accommodation in San Francisco Bay Area and Airbnb listings seem more expensive than a hotel room for a solo traveller.

      Tried 18 places in August: Only ONE provided the paid breakfast.
      12 asked for illegal rubbish disposal.
      One wanted extra money for bed linen!
      One refused towels!
      6 were over direct hotel prices!
      1 is still trying to sue me to pay for not using extra services.
      Ah forgot the many outrages earlier check-in offers like half the room and cleaning rate to get in 2h early!

      No you can't. If you have already made a booking using your credit card and have a balance remaining then the balance is taken from the same credit card that was used for the initial booking. No way to change this unless you cancel the booking and then rebook once you have loaded the gift cards to your account.

        Not true. You can change your payment options to pay now (instead of whenever the instalment was) and use a gift card. I've done it before (approx 10mths ago).
        If you don't believe me or worried about risking it, just try it BEFORE you purchase the gift card

          This is true, it can be done, but the option to pay by gift card does not show up until you have gift card balance available.

            @Djfhsd1: oh yes that's true. I meant to say you will see other options. and of course if you don't have a gc balance that wouldn't show up. As a true Ozber I have multiple Amex cards linked to it so I can see the 'other' options ;)

      I just did about 10 mins ago, worked like a charm. See below info provided by their chat team. It gave me the option to pay the balance on a scheduled date in future but I ended up paying now.

      - If you wish apply your gift credit now, your final payment will be charged immediately and ahead of schedule. It's only possible to apply a gift card by "Pay ahead of Schedule" currently.

      - If the gift card balance doesn't cover the entire open balance, the remaining money will be charged to the payment method you used for the initial booking.

      To apply gift card(s) please follow this steps:

        Is this the same for paying part now using gift card, and then pay the remaining ahead of schedule using gift cards also?

        Why? Because someone above got me worried about airbnb declining share price. So pay half now, risk half for a booking 6 months away. Then as the date gets closer, hopefully there'll be another discount gift card deal somewhere.

        Yes, it does. People suggest to ask a host to split a booking and adjust the price and pay them with gift cards separately.

    Transaction blocked by CBA, This transaction by CBA is considered Gambling, I have turned on the Gambling lock on my card and looks like it's preventing me to complete this transaction. But why would it consider this a gambling transaction?

        @AustinBlack, Thanks, I have turned it off in my CBA App and takes a max of 48 hours to reflect the change. Still didn't go through after, obviously haven't completed the 48 hr wait time.
        Trying my luck with customer support and on hold for the last 15 min :(

            @AustinBlack: Got a response from them saying that the way giftz.com.au payment gateway is using the codes that fall under the category of gambling and my transaction can be considered as a cash advance transaction on the credit card.

            Is this something your customer support can help process the transaction in a different method than stated above?

      Reading their gift card terms, there is nothing that states there is a limit. But if you have an account, just contact them and ask. That's what I did for my question.
