  • Time to jump in!

  • What’s this game run best on - PS5 or XSX?

I have both so just wondering what one to buy it for

    Thanks!

    Merry Xmas

    • Do you have online for both? IIRC, PS5 was slightly better optimised at launch but that could have changed.

      • Quicker load times too which will be very important…

        • +9

Loading times are only a factor if you die, just avoid that and you'll be fine.

          • @Munkeyalan: Exactly. The best trick for this game is just don’t die.

            • @slowmo: Could be a little difficult for this game…

      • I only have Xbox live

        • I'd go with that. Even if you're not interested in competitive multiplayer, summoning players to help with bosses is handy.

          • @Munkeyalan: Also, all of the messages are part of it. When they troll you, or advise you of an amazing chest. I believe you need an online sub for those.

            • @Morien: After reading some Reddit threads and reviews it seems the game runs best on the PS5 so even tho I have online for Xbox I think I’ll get it on PS5

              Thanks again everyone

    • ps5 by a mile….

    • PS4 back compat on PS5 is the way to go performance-wise (unless they've fixed the issues on PS5). If you have a VRR display then I think it doesn't matter too much, but double check if VRR works on the PS5 version since Elden Ring was released before PS5 supported VRR.

  • I bought this at launch, sold it and will not hesitate to buy it again for NG+. My favourite this gen so far.

  • +3

"Deluxe Edition" includes some loose media, standard has everything included

  • The very first "dog" message near a tortoise on launch got me. Might buy again for the Xmas break!

Can something really be called trash because it doesn't do what it doesn't intend to?

I mean, the Breville Dual is trash if you enjoy carbonated drinks.

  • It is as hard as demon souls? That game is too hard for me

    • Nah.

It's still a Souls game, and Souls games have their common thread. But ER is an open world game, whereas DS is more linear. If a boss or area in ER is too hard, go somewhere else and level up. DS you can't do that quite so much.

Also DS is a lot more punishing with healing, and if you die your max health is halved until you beat that area boss. Not the case in ER.

That said, the actual gameplay loop is quite similar. So if you just don't like the combat, you probably won't like this.

I have to disagree, sorry. Demon's Souls was for me a quite easy game, especially the remake. The bosses are mostly ridiculous easy, except for flamelurker and maneater. ER is definitely more challenging when it comes to boss fights. You can easily farm in both games, so I do not see the point why ER should be easier. I would probably say that farming is easier in DS, think about the manta rays. You can farm around 40,000 souls within 2 minutes. Additionally, you wear normally a ring which reduces your health reduction in souls form.

All in all, I would say that ER is a good game for SoulsBorne games. It shows how much fun it is and the open worlds motivates you to continue. Years ago, DS was my first game and I did not like it that much, because you really need to learn and understand the principle of a SoulsBorne game to succeed. ER showed me how to do that, but I found it way more challenging. Platinized DS afterward and succeeded with all other Souls games. Sekiro is calling now. ;-)

That's fair to say (no idea why we were both negged, but opinions do that to people, I guess).

You make a valid point about the bosses. DS bosses tended to be quite gimmick based, and once you figured out the gimmick they were easy. But I think for early game, DS is harder for newbies since they can run out of healing grasses quite quickly.

Enjoy Sekiro. Until we get a 60fps version of Bloodborne I think Sekiro might actually be my favourite!

    • One of the easiest Souls games to get into IMO.

    When $49

    • +1

I think this will be probably the case when the PS6 has been released. I never saw such a discount on a digital version before. ER is such an awesome game and I am really happy for every penny From Software can make with this masterpiece. It is art that has to be valued!

Trash game. Selling for $25 on marketplace.

        • It is comical you keep coming back to comment about how much you hate this game. Nothing else happening in your life? Only a member for a few days and look how many downvotes you have achieved from 14 comments …

          • -2

@cute as duck: Seems like there isn't much happening in yours either ?

            • @jatbinks:

Seems like there isn't much happening in yours either ?

Sure. Meanwhile you left a comment over 2.5 hours ago, got downvoted to oblivion, and then came back an hour later to repeat to a different person how much you dislike this game yet again. You are clearly seething that people like something that you don't and you keep getting drawn into this post. So yes.

              My initial comment stands.

  • GOTY

  • Tempted to complete the trilogy (in terms of platforms lol). I've gone up to NG+7 on Xbox and NG+5 on pc. Would love a Switch version as well!!

    • Still can't get past Soldier of God, Rick?
