  • thats a small budget, I would suggest the Breville barista express might become cheap enough to hit your budget ( was on sale for $550 this week). It just does not have a temp controlled milk jug which i dont have a recco for sorry

    • Sure. Thats something I had searched here and googled to compare and seems good. I can stretch my budget a bit if thats a good machine.

      • Id consider it the best bang for your buck entry level machine

The only thing else that I can think make OPs price range is a Delonghi Dedica + Breville Smart Grinder.
Other than that Breville Bambino or (even Plus) + Smart Grinder Pro. But the Bambinos have increased in price and so has the Breville Grinders.

Breville Barista Express still seems to be well priced even after the Breville price increases.

      • The Dedica is a great machine! that's also a great option.

  • If you can stretch it a bit then I'd say Breville Bambino Plus hands down. I'm not sure how much it'll go down for this boxing day but search says it went down $361 a couple of times. No grinder though, a good grinder is way more important than an espresso machine so I can't give out grinder solutions that fits that budget.

    • Standard for entry is the Breville Smart Grinder Pro and they have increased to circa ~$250 now on sale. Which is crazy as it could be hand easily under $200 a few years back .

I've had one for 2 years, can't say it was worth the money to be honest. You grow out of it pretty easily.

        • Yes, but I don't think there is any other grinder at OPs price point that is worth buying either..unless you're looking a hand grinders maybe(?)

          • @dasher86: Hand grinders are a workout but the results are better than the smart grinder that's for sure. There might be some good 1zpresso one's that can fit OPs budget.

Use your hand to control the milk jug temperature.

    Makes 2 cups simultaneously

steaming milk for two lattes will be slow and painful on a budget domestic machine. Not sure simultaneous helps.

  • im very happy with my Breville Barista Express Impress

  • Ok, I'm got… what's a "Milk Jug - Tempreature controlled"? Do you mean a jug that shows you the temperature? Just get a regular jug and a thermometer.

  • Since I started watching OzBargain two things have amazed me.

The first is how much some people, presumably adults, are willing to pay for stuff made out of lego.

The second is how much expense and trouble some people go to to get a good cup of coffee. Considering the expensive technologically complex devices now considered required to do so have only existed recently, it puzzles me how coffee made before they existed was considered drinkable and appetising enough that it ever became popular.

    • Nescafe and Moconna

  • Hi All,
Thanks for all your valuable suggestions.

I got the Breville Barista Max. Also, based on some previous posts got the Aldi Lazzio Single Origin Brazil beans for starters.

I mostly drink - Cappuccino, Latte or Mocha. Could you please recommend some good coffee beans. I read good reviews about Airjo beans but they are little expensive.

So any recommendations among the Aldi range or any other local roasters in Syd please ?
