Need a Managed Switch, Are These Similar?

I am looking for a managed switch with VLAN tagging. Should I just go with the TP Link because of price or get the NETGEAR as it has better feedback on tech websites?

  • Unifi Flex Mini runs in the same price range as the Netgear if you are looking for something a little easier to use particularly if you already have any other unifi gear. Also runs off POE if you already have a core switch that is able to power it.

No, they're not. One of them has Power light on the right and other on the left.

Pro hint: any second hand $5 router that can run OpenWRT is a managed switch.

    • On the assumption that @HumbleCat a) knows what VLAN tagging is and b) intends to use it correctly, then there's a good chance they've got a handful of old routers lying around (like I and many others do lol).

      This is a great suggestion.

      • I only have 3 other spare routers, a google wifi, edgerouter 4 and Asus 86U. I am trying to sell off the latter 2 as they are too valuable for storage.

Nothing old that can run dd wrt. Just prefer dedicated hardware for a single purpose

  • They‘re dumb switches. I don’t think you’re going to find a managed switch in the same price range.

OP wants VLAN tagging and both can "manage" it via web interface. Suggesting he should get proper managed switch like 48 port Cisco Catalyst just for that is a bit overkill.

      • Right you are.

  • This is a managed switch TP-Link 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Easy Smart Switch (TL-SG105E) https://amzn.asia/d/g9HUNnS
