Porting from Coles Mobile to Boost Question

I had a Coles 1 year prepaid which i used whilst my mom visited from Overseas and the sim was left in her phone when she returned home. It was about to expire anyway and there was no roaming activated . Now that i am thinking of porting the same number to Boost

Do i need the number (Coles) to be present in Australia inorder to port it to Boost

It is still active but as there is no roaming , i dont think it can receive any text or calls whilst overseas. Is there a SMS or call verification involved in the porting process?

If it is an Australian number and is still active, you can port it.

You will probably receive an SMS in the old number first to approve the port.

    edit:

i dont think it can receive any text or calls whilst overseas.

    might not work then…

Maybe buy this $2 Kogan sim & see if you can port to that first.

In my recent port from Woolies to Boost, there was an SMS notification from Boost with a One Time Code that I needed to input.

It was valid for 24 hours, so provided it can receive SMS (maybe SMS over WiFi?) it'll work, otherwise no.

I ported from coles to vodafone and the security SMS was sent to Coles sim. You can try activating the interantioanl roaming on Coles (as they're offering now) and receive the security SMS to port-out.

  • Thank you guys . Let me see what i can do.

Update - Yes an SMS OTP is required to port however Coles mobile with No roaming activated was able to receive SMS overseas. All sorted . Number ported to Boost in 15 minutes.Thank you everyone for your valuable inputs
