How to Avoid Webjet Servicing Fee?

I recently purchased a $500 gift card with this AmEx deal only to notice there are hidden fees like :Webjet Booking Price Guarantee $12.95 Webjet Servicing Fee $21.95 for flight booking.

Just wonder is there a workaround? With these fees I better book directly with airline companies which I can't as I have a gift card.

Thanks heaps for tips.

Did you not do any research prior to dropping $500 on a gc?
    For example

No, can't avoid their fees. Hopefully it's break even by the time you factor in your Amex promo and you don't need to deal with customer service if there are issues :)

Good idea. Webjet is good for scanning the options, then book direct.

You can book hotels with no fee (but you also won't get discounts like cashback).

    • I checked they highjacked hotel prices as well, $122.5 on the hotel web, $149 on webjet what a shame

  • ..$163 on jetstar and $207 over webjet.

Because you didn't pay their Webjet Booking Price Guarantee $12.95 😋

  • Yes start your own company that accepts Webjet gift cards, but don't charge any service fees. That way you can redeem your gift card and go broke at the same time.

I think the moment a friend used Webjet to book a flight (and not just compare prices) was the first time I lost respect for that person.

Once Skyscanner and the alternatives were perfectly useable for the Australian flight market over a decade ago, I would have thought that Webjet would change their model or just die off. If I was betting man, I would have shorted their shares with everything I've got. And yet their share price shot up 5 years ago and is somehow recovering post-Covid.

I've never looked at their insurance, car hire etc but maybe at least one of these services are competitive or have value? If not, bravo to their marketing team for fooling enough people.

Sorry to say, but there's a lot of people out there who just don't know any better…
