Does JB Hi-Fi Accept Returns for Poor Quality 4K Blu-Rays?

I bought Spider-Man 1-3 (2000s) and have since opened them. After testing them on my player there is noticeable noise and grain that is distracting, as if I'm playing them at 720p quality.

You know that, being shot on 35mm film, they have grain. That's part of the photography style.

AV Forums beg to disagree with you in terms of the transfer quality. I'll be honest, I'd trust them over your comment.

I mean at least the JB staff will get a good laugh out of the return request

The grain is meant to be there. Movies were filmed on actual film back then, even today some old school directors still use film. 24 high resolution photos per second, each one with a unique film grain pattern. You should want to see the film grain with blu ray.

The Zapruder film had grain (and Lead),

  • Also, poorly upscaled "remastered" crap use "dither" to hide upscale artifacts - "dither" aka "controlled grain" :/

I will bet every copy you get will be "grainy" as that is what happens when studios do lazy versions of "remastering" to 4k!

Upscaled 4k will also look WORSE on a cheap 8k panel because it is "upscaled poorly" a second time by the cheap TV hardware :(

      Spider-Man was a 35mm > 4k master.

It's called noise and it's what gives 4K film the higher quality picture.

What did they say when you asked them ?

  • I too have the Spider-Man movies on 4K Blu-ray. Me and my OLED think they look amazing.

  • Go through your TV settings and turn off every auto dithering, filtering, anti blur etc etc.

  • Lol you are literally complaining about extra detail.
