How Do I Extend My Current XBOX Game Pass Ultimate Account Cheaply? (Not Lapsed or New?)

Hello

TL:DR - Title says it all.

Please read the whole thread before posting to make sure your post is really relevant.

I had never used XBOX Game Pass (in any form) until earlier this year; (got a great deal on Eneba for like $50-ish for a year with the Turkey VPN or something). However, I had never had an XBOX account then - so I could do that deal as a New user.

Right now - my account is NOT Lapsed (still got a few months)… but I want to add another year or more now while it's cheap…But all the deals seem to only talk about New or Lapsed accounts?

I would really much rather keep the one account with all my Game Progress etc - so how do I do that with these kind of deals?

BTW - I don't have a console - I only play on PC.
I'd prefer to stick to Ultimate - but I am curious how much more you get for that compared to Gold (is there any other level?) - if any difference?

PS - why can't I add tags? (if someone can - just stick in whatever you think - but do let me know how I can edit it too - cheers)

Thank you for your help

You don't lose you gamesaves, progress etc when your subscription lapses, just access to the Game Pass library & ability to play games. The games can stay installed if you want.

If you have a few months then be patient and wait for another Eneba deal.

  • The cheapest way possible for anyone with an active gamepass sub is to use microsoft rewards. Since you are already on gamepass there are more ways to earn points which you can convert to credit/gamepass/gift card.

Its quite simple to earn the points takes about 5 mins outta my day, but I don’t earn every single point I possibly can (hardly ever complete the daily achievement task or some of the monthly challenges)

I have observed from my usage that you can roughly make about $15.00 every month (more on months with extra incentives) or so by doing this.

I joined with 3 years (got 13 months left) on gamepass and havent had to use many points yet, I did redeem a few $5 gift cards to use on sale items for 360 games, but as of now (almost 2 years in) I have tallied up just over 326,000 points.

For reference game pass for 3 months is 35,000 points.

Also should note I use a console primarily so I am only assuming the same challenges for the games applies for pc. However the daily Bing mobile/desktop searches should still rack up some points.

    • My Game Pass for 3 months is showing up as 22,750 points…..How is yours showing 35,000 points?

So for me, I can earn up to 120 points per day (my subscription has ended). 3 Months of Game Pass cost 22750 points.

      22750 / 120 = 189.58 days (round up to 190 days).

      190 / 30 = ~6.33 months

Looks like it will take me 6-7 months of earning points to earn 3 months of game pass. Are you able to earn more points if you are subscribed?

      • Sorry I wasn't clear enough. Game pass pc is 22,750 points for 3 months, Game pass ultimate was 35,000 points for 3 months, (having just double checked seems they removed the 3 month deal and is now only available at 12,000 points for 1 month)

And having 2 accounts one with an active gamepass sub and one without, you can definitely earn more points by being subbed/active account via daily, weekly and montly challenges.

And you can only accumulate 120 points a day, it must be different for game pass pc then. Do you use the bing searches for points as well?

Seems odd because even with my gamepass inactive account I can earn
        - 90 points from the desktop searches,
        - 60 from mobile searches,
        - 12 bouns for a few more searches and the
        - 60-100 points from the daily poll, quizzes and facts, thats a grand total of 222-262 points.

With my game pass active account I used to average around 500 points a day give or take a few points. Though that has definitely been nerfed a bit.

  • so there is no way at all to get a cheap deal if you have an active account (not up for earning points - thanks but not for me)?

    cheers

    • You could perhaps just buy now and sit on the codes until you want to use them. (Until your current subscription expires).

      • hmm… a risky but possible solution?

Not my ideal plan but - if I did that; I'd be worried the codes would be deleted or something if you didn't use them within weeks etc (I think mine ends in March sometime)?

When it does become inactive - you think that most of those codes work ok ?

I think I had to buy as Gold then upgrade to Ultimate…. does that mean I couldn't do that this time (or would it matter)?

I've only ever bought codes/used xbox game pass once before so; I'd love to hear from some folks who've done this before with an account which needed extending?

        Cheers

        • A couple of years ago I bought 3 x 1 month codes for Game Pass Ultimate in a sale. I maxed out my 3 years after entering g two of those codes so kept the third to enter the following month. However, when I tried to use it I got a message that it had been used by someone else. Asked for a refund but was told to go to Microsoft. MS told me to go to the company I bought the code from. Nobody would help and I never got a refund.
