Curious about Fitness Passport and Gym Fobs

Hey all, just wondering if there are any fitness passport users here that knows about the anytime fitness fob.

The fitness passport covers quite a few locations on the NSW coast and Orange for anytime fitness and it sounds like the joining fee will get us an identical fob to every other anytime fitness members.

Does the fob have limited access to the fitness passport sites only or can it be used if I ever go travelling?

Just wanted to see if it was worth getting the AF fob as I am in the region but just going to local gyms but I can see that plus fitness has rules and specific gyms listed on their website.

  • From my experience in QLD with fitness passport, you get an ID card which will let you into the named gyms.

Some of those gyms may require you to obtain a fob for access. Some will give it for free, some will make you pay a once off fee for it on top of fitness passport.

Most places you didn't need a fob at all, just the fitness passport ID card.

You should be able to use fitness passport anywhere in Australia whilst you are travelling, just with the ID card. I don't know about the AF fob functionality specifically.

  • With my FP gym I paid an access fee to get a fob. This lets me access any gym the chain owns. Never need my ID card as the fob lets me in like any other gym member. I don’t use anytime fitness though, don’t think it’s available as an option for me.

  • You get an ID card, not a FOB, with FP. The gym will scan the card to verify its validity and then you're free to enter.

Some gyms require you to pay/purchase their specific FOB or card. Some will lend/provide them for free. Yes, you end up with two cards/FOBs.

  • Not related to AF; we have FP and got a fob from Plus Fitness (suburb 1) - paid $20? or was it $40 for the fob. We are able to access another Plus Fitness in another suburb.

  • You get a FOB.

It should limig you yo your gyms that are vivered by your Futness Passport ie: mine allowed Sydney, Central Coast and Hunter.

But it did allow me access to an Anytime in QLD when not staffed, the next day i went when it was staffed they pulled me up and said they will not get paid for the visits by Fitness Passport.

  • I have the local FP membership, not the state or national one.

I was made to pay a once-off $30 or $50 fee for a Club Lime fob. I believe it lets me enter the other Club Limes in the area for no extra fee but only after I complete their induction training (what to do in case of emergencies etc).
