Belong Mobile Wi-Fi Calling

Anybody else randomly picked up WiFi Calling with belong since Christmas? Pretty good present if it hangs around.

  • How do you know if its wifi call or normal ?

There's an extra icon next to your wifi signal at the top. Also my phone calls when at home are clearer!

  • Being that other Telstra MVNO's (More Telecom, Woolworths Mobile) have recently received VoLTE/VoWiFi support, it makes sense.

  • Also worked overseas with the phone on fight mode!

    • Win!

    • Now we need eSIM and it perfect alternative to Telstra.

    • Are you saying that I don't even need international roaming?

      • Yep my phone rang - I was actually a little upset - people from work were able to hassle me

From memory - it didn’t show contact names, only memories - so maybe this was unintentional and has been fixed

        Also didn’t try dialling out

        • Too bad can't receive SMS over wifi. I'll have to port to Telstra to go overseas and then back to belong…

  • This explains why I got a spam call this morning. Normally have zero signal in my study.

    I guess it's still a win overall.

Got the email from Belong today that VoLTE & VoWiFi is now active

  • Still a bit hit and miss sometimes. Takes longer to connect to WiFi calling mode sometimes.

    • im having this issue, if you turn airplane mode on then wait for 5 seconds, turn back on wifi calling is enabled again, so is it still not fully supported?

  • Has anyone tried ordering a replacement Sim? Anything activated after November 2022 allows SMS overseas. I wonder if activating a replacement Sim will allow SMS overseas

  • Got this when I landed

“Hi from Belong. Judging from your network connection, you're in xxxxxx. While you're there, you can receive text messages and call selected numbers at no charge. But you won't be able to send texts, receive calls or use data. Find out how you can stay in touch when overseas (and which countries are eligible for this service): https://blng.au/RoamingSupport. You'll need an internet connection to view this page.”
