Transactions for Bonus Interest That Don't Do Pending Status

How does one do transactions that don't go to pending status? Insert and PIN? Bpay? Select Savings?

I left it a bit late in the month to do my 5 transactions for bonus interest and some of them are still pending from a week ago.

I bank with ING. I have found that tap and pay got pending but usually if I insert the card and select savings and enter the pin the transaction clears straight away and does not go pending.

Ing is good at deceiving you!
Miss 1 and they steal 2 Months from you!
    Sorry back to Ubank!

  • its up to when the merchant decides to finalise the transaction

It can depend on the bank that has issued your debit card.

For ING, EFTPOS transactions (i.e. transactions where you insert your physical debit card, select SAV and enter the PIN) are settled at the end of the same day as the transaction (at least for transactions completed before 9pm Sydney time). I’m not entirely sure whether transactions done late on a calendar day (i.e. after 9pm Sydney time) will still be processed on the same day, but I would think that is the case.

For Westpac, I’ve noticed that EFTPOS transactions that happen late on a business day (e.g. after 9pm Sydney time) or on a non-business day are not processed until the next business day. I can see on my statement examples of such transactions where the transaction date is the next business day, but the transaction description mentions the date I actually did the transaction.

  • Paypal via Debit Card always debits ing account instantly.

  • Coles Supermarket will settle instantly as EFTPOS with a contactless transaction at the self serve checkout. Just split something small into 5 payments of a dollar each or so.

  • For card transactions you want to insert the card and use the eftpos network either by choosing check or savings.

  • Thanks. I did a few eftpos purchases and they were posted immediately, no pending status. All sorted bonus interest paid.

Why blame ING for the Merchant procedures or Customers mistakes?

We are all adults…be responsible and take the blame. You have earned it. learn and move on.
