20% off AAMI Car or Home Insurance?

AAMI is currently running "Double up and save!" 20% off a new Insurance policy, the T&C state that it is available for different Insurance types:

Here is a link for 20% AAMI Car Insurance:

Could someone share a similar link for 20% off home insurance,
which might appear as a banner at the very bottom of the account page:

Even at 20% off, it’s still more expensive than my current NRMA and an Allianz quote I just ran.

    YMMV.

F##k AAMI.. I was with them for car insurance. My policy was expiring few weeks ago, and it was significantly cheaper to cancel the policy and then re-sign with a new one. So I cancelled the policy.

    I then got rear ended.

Because the car had damage, AAMI would no longer insure me (comprehensive), and would only offer me 3rd party

    • Sorry explain to me how it's AAMI's fault?

    • Maybe, in hindsight, it would have worked out better to:
      * sign up a new policy first;
      * cancel the old policy afterward?
Not actually sure whether AAMI allows this.
If they do allow it, obviously there's a slight 'inefficiency', where for (say) 24 hours you might be paying for two separate lots of insurance on the same car. (Note: in case of a claim I highly doubt that they would pay out on both policies — but IANAL.)

Note: you mention you "cancelled" the old policy. I'm not sure whether you meant that you actively requested the policy to be ended, or whether you merely let it lapse. If you let the policy lapse, AFAIK AAMI will cancel coverage immediately.
In comparison, in the case of Allianz it would have been safe to let the policy lapse provided you told them that you wanted an extension (up to 14 days) in order to make payment: suppose you did that, and then a crash happened before you finalised a new (separate) policy, then your best course of action would be to forget about creating a new policy, but rather return to the old policy by making a (pre-approved) late renewal payment and then immediately making a claim.
I know that for contents insurance Allianz offers this, whilst AAMI doesn't — I presume it's the same for car insurance.

    • You certainly did get rear ended. Bent over, then rear ended by yourself

  • Aami has a cooling off period. I purchased a car policy, got banner for home insurance . Got home insurance policy with discount. Got banner for car insurance. Got another car insurance with discount and called Ammu to cancel the first car insurance for full refund.

    • Great, thanks a lot!!!

    • Brilliant.
The AAMI call-centre staff said I should be able to get this 20% discount if I logged in online. I set up my AAMI account for this purpose and logged in, but couldn't get to the discount.
Only by using your link was I able to access the discount!
      Thank-you so much :-)

I have an active policy but the promo link doesn't give me any discount. Trying to ask the AAMI live chat dude, taking forever to reply.

    • Yeah doesnt work anymore, it worked last year for me. Still a bit cheaper than the renewal.

      • I totally forgot it was 2024, my fault. Expired in 2023 lmao.
